I buy new guitar every month, at this time i have more than 25 guitars, least expensive is $450 and most expensive is $3750 which is Gibson guitar.
Sound
Awesome guitar, NO question about it. Amazing sound, especially Nano pickup acoustic guitar sound which is super clear. Playing 4 hour since it arrived yesterday i'm going to show it to one of my brother in my band, i bet you when he see it, he going to buy one too. I collected Guitars from Gibson, Epiphone, Fernandes, B.C. Rich, Schector, Ibanez,PRS, Takamine, Yamaha...this is one of my top 3 guitar even though i just got it less than 1 day. i would suggested that you use the stereo input to got out all the sounds it offers because the upper input will only work for acoustic only and this what i found from my guitar.
Features
Yes, Yes, couldn't asking for more on this guitar with this price.
Ease of Use
Pretty easy to use, again i use stereo input to get out all the sounds that it offers.
Quality
There is loosing nut on the switch, other than that all i can say is Amazing guitar, well made. I play concert once a while, this is the one will go with me into concert, but when i play for wedding or parties....this guitar will stay home for sure, cause you never know anything could spill on to it especially every got drunk at the end of party.
Value
Yes, it worth the price, you can't go wrong about this guitar.
Manufacturer Support
No, i just got the guitar less than a day. will see.
The Wow Factor
Like i said, Amazing guitar, well made, built like a tank, could not asking for more on this guitar.

"I Love This Guitar(Ultra 2)."
Verified Purchaser
zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
1-I will keep this guitar forever,2-Nice addition to my collection,3-In comparing this guitar to others around this price range it is a solid guitar made by a company(Epiphone)I trust.4-The acoustic sound is real nice.5-If this guitar was lost(knock on wood)I would definitly replace it.6-I wish I knew about zZounds easy pay plan sooner I would have gotten the Ultra 2 a long time ago.7-What I like the most about the Ultra 2 is the price to quality ratio.
Sound
The acoustic sound for me is very satisfying, for songs like Over The Hills and Far Away(Zeppelin). The acoustic sound is captured very well by this guitar. It also handles the dirty sound very nicely,(different than my Gibson Les Paul Stuido-also very nice)each guitar has its own unique sound quality, the Ultra 2 sounds very nice and does exactly what it's supposed to,it give,s the player versitility.
Features
The guitar come's with a owner's manual, inspection card, sound cable, quick referance card for sound controls, and a warranty card.
Ease of Use
The controls are not comlpicated at all,the controls on the back of the Ultra 2 are clearly marked(Bass,Treble,Gain),the controls on the front give you control over the neck pick-up,bridge pick-up,nano-mag pick-up,and master voulume. As far as the controls on the back(Nano-Mag only)I usually just set'em and forget'em.
Quality
I read alot of reviews before I bought my Ultra 2 and thought that I might have a problem with quality control issues(loose parts, burrs on the frets,finish,ect..)the Ultra 2 that I received has absoultly none of these issues,it looks good, plays good, feels good and sounds great.
Value
The Ultra 2 is a exceptional value,if you can afford to spend thousands of dollars on a Gibson Les Paul go ahead, if not, get the Ultra 2-it is a solid guitar at a great price(you definitly won't regret it)
Manufacturer Support
Up to now I haven't had to contact Epiphone for any reason. There is a warranty card and information on how to contact Epiphone included with the guitar.
The Wow Factor
Part of the reason I bought the Ultra 2 is because of the quilt top,to me it has one of the most appealing finishes there is.The other reason is for the acoustic sounds.Put the two together and what do you have-"The Ultra 2".

"The Ultra II, it's not called Ultra for nothing."
Verified Purchaser
zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
I'm sure the Ultra III is even better, and maybe more money. Buy this instead, it's awesome looks, sounds and price make it a moral imperative to purchase and be creative with and make people happy with great music you will do with this guitar.
Sound
I had been researching the Ultra II for awhile, and I could not find one bad review. And this one isn't either. I can't believe how many sounds are possible! When using two amp set ups, one for the Nano and one for the grind, it's awesome! I think it has a better acoustic sound then my acoustic. Super impressed with feel and weight also, it fits great, not heavy and the sustain is all there. And it looks great too, the finish is top notch. Out of box was just needing a tune adjust and ready to go. Action is great for me, it could be lower though. As others have said, this is just a great buy, super features and the price is well, just buy this and you will not be anything but smiling and playing for hours.
Features
The Nano pickup. It's great, it can be loud, quiet, soft, pretty. Stereo guitar, what else to know? It's just so easy to get a huge amount of different sounds with the two pickups plus the NanoMag.
Ease of Use
Never owned a L.P. so maybe I'm not the best person to write about ease of use, however; it's even easier than that. Tune it up, maybe adjust the action and it's ready to go. Quality is great. I could not find one little tiny flaw any where on the guitar. None. Not even any finger prints.
Quality
I am very impressed with the quality. Every other review I read also mentioned this aspect, these guitars are built very, very well. The people making these do care about their work and it shows. Paint, perfect, finish perfect, zero loose hardware. Packed even better than another guitar I recently got. Epiphone could teach some other companies about packing for shipping.
Value
I would make this go to "11" if possible. It's value is better than just a "ten". Check the price and features against any L.P. and I think the same features are not available until the 3 to 4 thousand area. This guitar is just such a great value, why bother buying something that doesn't have half the features for twice the price? And is so close to the same level of quality, why not just buy two of the Ultra II?
Manufacturer Support
Not sure about support just yet, hope it's not something I need to know. The guitar is built very, very well, I expect years of playing. And hope for little to no repairs anytime soon.
The Wow Factor
Pretty much a ten for me. Love the swirled black finish. As others have stated, the pics of the guitar aren't any where near as good as the real thing. It's a beauty.

"Excellent value...awesome looks, sound, and features!!!"
Verified Purchaser
zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
I expect to be satisfied for a long time to come and don't plan on replacing it with anything. I own two other Fender Strats, and would probably sell one of those before even considering selling this one. I would definitely replace this guitar if lost or stolen.
Sound
The sound and tone of this guitar is amazing. The Alnico V pup's really nail the Les Paul sound down very well. The Nanomag really brings on the acoustic tone very well, and blending it with the humbuckers can get you close to strat tone and lots of other tones as well. I was even impressed with the fact that the Nanomag can bring clean acoustic tone to a growly old Marshall JCM800 4212 that has a tendency to have some distorted overtones on the clean channel.
Features
The guitar came with everything as advertised, which was fine for me.
Having the guitar come with a hardcase would have been nice, but I ended up getting the Gator case bundled with this guitar, which is very nice as well.
Ease of Use
All controls are easy to understand and laid out well. The manual is well written, but would have been nice to have the Nanomag controls explained. I became familiar with the controls prior to purchasing the guitar by watching YouTube reviews from Guitar Player magazine. Epiphone's web site also had a layout of how the controls function. The control layout is different from the typical Les Paul where one of the tone controls is replaced with the Nanomag volume and then just one master tone control. This guitar is very comfortable and really plays well.
Quality
Couldn't find any quality issues...no file marks on the frets or binding. The finish is perfect and the body and neck binding fit is perfect. Don't see a reason why it won't be dependable or roadworthy if it's taken care of. The guitar setup out of the box was very good...just had to tweak the intonation a bit on a couple of strings.
Value
Excellent value for the money...I'm really surprised that Gibson didn't incorporate the Nanomag feature as a flagship item in their high end models. I think all of the features this guitar has is a steal for the price.
Manufacturer Support
I've only owned this guitar for about a week, and just needed to get the control layout for the Nanomag, which was easily obtained from Epiphone's website. Outside of that, I don't foresee any other need for service or support.
The Wow Factor
I bought the midnight ebony color model which looks awesome along with the quilted maple top and gold hardware. The Nanomag feature was a big draw for me as well....very innovative. Great looking and very flexible sound from this guitar!

Ease of Use
by just turning a knob, you can go from smooth and clean to rock,

Value
i assure you when more people play and hear this the price will go up, very good value

this LP is beautiful, and the way the nano controlls are on the backside and the pickup is hidden in the fretboard it looks like a classic LP, but once you hear it you know its much more.

Sound
I have one of the first ultra 2's for sale back a few years ago when they were 599.99 and I am AMAZED at the sounds it makes! It has actually gotten better and plays perfectly. NO buzz NO blemishes, NO problems, NONE! Where can you buy such a versatile axe? Well, I have been looking since this one and still after almost 4 YEARS nobody has even came close to the Ultra 2!!! This is the chameleon of guitars without a doubt! The acoustic sound is so real if you were not looking you'd swear it was an Martin or some other HIGH END acoustic! But you can also mix all of the pickups to whatever sound you want. Oh and put some elixers on it or blue steels and CRY! This is truly a guitar in a league of it's own!

This is simply put, a great guitar. i have been playing pro and semi-pro for 40 years. I have had all the "guitar-of-the-moment" models (Gibson, Fender etc.) including two different Gibson Les Paul guitars. I bought an Epiphone Les Paul Standard (black) about 6 months ago and was amazed by it. The sound, the feel and everything was great. I just bought a brand new left over 2007 Ultra 2 (still in box and tagged). It's great.. The finish is flawless and the after an intensive set up it plays beautifully. I can't imagine paying $3000-4000.00 for a Gibson LP ever again.

Verified Purchaser
zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
I'll keep this for as long as I can, unless I need money and have to sell it.
Sound
Sounds is great! I love the weight, love the sounds of the stock pickups and it is made well. Connections are tight, which is good. I have not had the chance to use both outputs, but I will once I get an ab-y switch. Epiphone lives up to their standards in making a great product.
The humbuckers give a warm tone with nice brights and lows and handles distortion/OD very well. Gives a nice crunch. The acoustic isn't as warm as I had hoped, but I can do that with a pedal or two.
This is a very versatile guitar and I can foresee myself not needing to bring my acoustic to gigs that I only play a couple acoustic songs.
I use my Epi through a Thurman SPB-8C board and the pedals I use are an Ernie Ball volume, CryBaby wah, Boss overdrive, Boss Tremolo, Boss Noise gate, Line 6 DL4, Boss tuner which all connects to my Egnater 4212. I have a Decimater in the FX loop of the amp to quiet the noise on the preamp section.
Features
Product came with a cable and a allen wrench, but no other accessories. There are no "least useful features" for this guitar. IT is all good.
Ease of Use
The only complaint I have is getting used to the knob that turns it on and off or mixes the ac pickup and the humbuckers. I wish there was a way to let you know which way you were turning the knob. I'll put a sticker on it though, so I can easily tell what is "off" and "on" for the acoustic pickup. As for the controls for the acoustic pickup, it's kind of a pain to get to them. For future models, might want to put the controls to have easier access.
Quality
Again, this is my third Epi and they have not done me wrong.
Value
For the money, it is absolutely great. This is why I have stuck with Epiphone guitars.

The look is great! Love the finish; love the satin neck. It is SEXY!

"One of a kind- does it all!"
Not even thinking about anything else. Might switch out the humbuckers for custom vintage PAF pick ups or EMG actives, maybe.
Sound
Nanomag is incredibly killer cool. Awesome acoustic tones. Then switch to humbuckers and rock out, or blend with infinite variety.
Features
Nanomag controls could be easier to access and bigger or different type knobs. Tone and volume and pick up switching controls could be laid out better for easier modification. 3 jacks, maybe for humbuckers alone vs. nanomag alone vs. all pick ups?
Ease of Use
More complex than your average electric guitar, but worth the effort of learning, for sure!
Quality
Tone lovely. Form and finish- mostly terrific, and playability awesome. Some minor cosmetic blemishes. Really trivial, but slightly annoying.
Value
The versatility the Nanomag adds to the guitar is incredible. Light weight, beautiful form and finish. Terrific playability. Hard to beat at any price!
Manufacturer Support
Gibson and Shadow are terrifically helpful!
The Wow Factor
Gotta have it. No other guitar does what it does- an LP with classic humbucker tone as well as acoustic capability, light weight, cut away and rear sculpted form- a work of art!

"Good work, sounds great, good investment!"
I'll never sell it, but buy a Telecaster for a second one. There is no reason to sell a good item. The quitars are individuals. Some items of the same brand sound better and are better, even if you have a good brand.. Once my former guitar was stolen, I got a new one and it was not good...
Sound
That is my instrument and tool. I am using Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 100 W amp. Very good highs, mids, and lows. Great sound. Top gear
Features
Normal accessories. Hard case, tools, manual etc... Selection of components OK, (it is so classic.....)
Wood work is fine. Only negative point is that the gold plating on the mikes and on the tune o matic is too thin, it is partly worn out and one can see the nickel surface under it.
Ease of Use
Very easy and light to play, good for fingers in daily use. Tuning is OK. Electrical parts OK. I have this version with original Gibson mikes, they are OK.
Quality
It is really made well like a Swiss Watch. Factory quality control is well managed. Only negative point is that the gold plating is too thin and by the time it starts to worn out. I can depend on it. Usually we have allways one or two spare quitars in a concert. Last time we needed one; my colleques Strato didn't work. He had tightened the jack before the concert and due that the welding has broken in the jack. We started the show an suddenly he noticed that the Srato didn't work
Value
Really, this product is worth of price
Manufacturer Support
It was OK all parts are available. That is important when the isntrument is in hard daily use. I am satisified.
The Wow Factor
Actually it has a great aesthetic marvel an top desing. It is still beautifull. You understand what a quitar means to a quitarist; it is like a mate or a girlfriend?

"Great Guitar"
Overall a great guitar, when you break it in. The sound toggle switch needs work though.
Sound
Great sound overall, the low E sounds a little metallic aat first but i am sure it will improve as i break it in.
Features
The accoustic function on this i great, the rhythm/treble switch feels a little cheaply made but overall good featured.
Ease of Use
This sounds great right out of the box and the accoustic setting is really easyas well.
Quality
This feels like it will last a lifetime. It is very solid. The only problem I have is the toggle switch.
Value
This is might be slightly overpriced.
Manufacturer Support
I have not needed to call support but I would imagine that they are fairly good.
The Wow Factor
This is very appealing in both colors and the accoustic setting makes the want meter go way up.

Epiphone Les Paul UltraII Customer Review
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Sound
Let me start by telling you that I have been playing for 30 years (ouch!) and have had plenty of experience with guitars. I have owned well over 30. Among them; 7 USA Strats a 1980 LP and a 2000 LP Custom, I do all my own tech work blah blah blah... yes I am pretty picky about the guitars I play but I know enough and have seen enough to notjust buy the big brands because they are the big brands.
I have been fanatical lately about acoustic tone and overall acoustic sound. I had never heard of this Epi LP until very recently. I watched some Youtube reviews and was very impressed. I got the guitar, played it through my gear and was floored with the Nanomag system. I can't believe the sounds this guitar can make. Add in blending the pups and adding a looping switch... amazing... why would you buy anything else?!
Features
I was pretty happy with the fit and finish. I immediately put a bone nut on it and was about to buy a gotoh bridge to stop the buzzing on the E and A strings but a few daps of locktite cured that issue... I can be thrifty when needed!
The quilted maple top is lovely (dark finish ofcourse) and the guitar is finished nicely. I am not a fan of gold hardware due to oxidation and fade but it does look pretty.
A very minor blem on the back of the neck in the flat finish but it is ok.
Ease of Use
I read a review just before buying. The guy was whining about the bleed-through from the bridge to neck pup and visa versa... it is true, and they all have it but big deal. This thing sounds great. There are many snobs out there who will tell you different but if you wish buy a set of US made buckers and throw em in... save yourself 2 grand +!!!
It is very easy to use and by blending the Nanomag with the buckers you can get a near-strat sound out of it or set the Nano to zero and rock the house.
Quality
My 2000 LP custom was a gift from a business associate and I thanked him dearly for it but the inlay work and overall finish was crap. Honestly it hung on the wall of my studio as a guest guitar. I was so disgusted with Gibson I just couldn't play it... I have no issue with 'Epiphone' on the head stock, the Korean's did a very nice job with this guitar. Fit and finish is great and there is no way to beat it in the price range... no way. You're not going to get a nitro finish on a guitar like this unless you have it done... is it worth it... really... up to you I gues..
Value
How you can you go wrong? You can spend a lot more and yes many things will be better... but don't forget you're also paying Noth American manufacturing costs and they add up quick.
This is my third epiphone and I think they are great guitars. I really don't care if I ever own a Gibson again. They are grossly overpriced.
Manufacturer Support
Never had to ask for help... I imagine I have voided my warranty already anyway!

"Nanomag is useless, but the guitar itself is beautiful to admire..."
Verified Customer
zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Sound
The nanomag is a gimmick. It's a shame that they chambered the solid body on this guitar to accommodate it.
Features
Basic stuff. The nanomag doesn't provide any additional versatility that your FX processing can't.
Ease of Use
Stereo outputs are useless into a POD and other effects that only have single inputs for guitar. Tweaking sound at the guitar level is not preferred method. You're better off doing this in the digital domain on your PC when recording.
Quality
Nice fit and finish. A couple of buzzing frets, evn after setup.
Value
They should keep that beautiful midnight finish, ditch the nanomag, and put EMGs in this puppy with a solid body. Then it would be a gret value.
Manufacturer Support
No need
The Wow Factor
Love the look, would have preferred a solid body.

"How to teach an old dog new tricks"
I'm not sure if I'll buy it this year or write to Gibson and see if they will make one any time soon. I'm going to need to buy one soon though it is very versital has great tone and is overall just a great sounding guitar. Once I get it it will stay with my collectiion for life. It combines my two loves in one guitar Les Pauls and acoustics...
Sound
This guitar sounds like a classic Gibson Les Paul and with the quick turning of a few nobs it sounds like an acoustic guitar with a brigt crisp clean sound. Heck you can play both sounds togeter if you want...I love this guitar it is especially good for me because I play a lot of Christian music and it can go between styles easily. I just hope Gibson takes a page from little brothers book and starts producing something like this themself. I'd love that quality. The only thing that weirds me out about the guitar is that it is so much lighter than my Les Paul... I don't see how it can have as good of sustain as the orriginal without the shear mass of it.
Features
The NanoMag is great!!!It offers true acoustic like qualities and makes this Les Paul one of the most versital ones out there
Ease of Use
This guitar can even make the perpetual beginner (like myself) sound good.
Quality
Not quite a Gibson but deffinitly getting closer...
Value
deffinitly... it could probally sell for it's msrp once more people catch on to it
Manufacturer Support
I've dealt with Gibson but not Eppiphone...
The Wow Factor
I'ts deffinitly a beautiful guitar. Feels pretty nice and sounds great...
