After trying to use this thing for a year and a half, finally giving up on it to get a DSLR. Pros: audio with the shotgun mic or external mics is phenomenal. The Bluetooth controller.makes remote use really nice. It will split the signals to give you an extracted audio track to edit or snap in. Really cool. Compression, float, and effects are too notch also. I will continue to use it as a secondary camera for video redundan8 and to capture audio. For a company called zoom, it surprises me that their flagship camera device does not, in face, zoom. Just some weird digital telephoto options. To be fair, outside in good sunlight, it's a good camera, but for my podcast, or for trapping live performances in a club setting, it falls terribly short , regardless of in you're in 720, 1080, or 4k mode. Again, outside light, it's excellent. I might can use it for outdoor interviews with my Saramonic wireless lavaliere rig. All in all, it's a bummer for video, but unmatched for what it is in audio capture

"Zoom Q8n-4K misses the mark for video quality!"

The video quality of this camera is super grainy and not useable. Unless you are going to be filming outside in bright sunlight it will be very grainy video. Most bands play in darker settings indoors and I thought recording bands and music was the point of a camera like this with XLRs. It's a major step down from the Q8 that came before it. Other features, such as the TRS inputs (which were within the XLR inputs) were removed, the touch screen feature is removed (replaced with buttons) and the screen can no longer be angled. It's just not worth the additional money to upgrade. I'm glad that I did not sell my Q8s. I sent this item back and will stick with the Q8s because the sound is just as good, and the video is 100% better.
Sound
Sound quality is good on this.
Features
The inputs and readouts for the sound and clip monitoring are ok.
Ease of Use
It's easy to get good sound with. Impossible to get good video with.
Quality
Not sure. Most Zoom stuff seems to last. Didn't keep it so don't know about the long term.
Value
No
The Wow Factor
Not good. No.
