I admit, I was skeptical at first. Read a ton of reviews, watched even more YouTube reviews and decided to pull the trigger. I’ve played a Tele for years but wanted something loaded with p90s. Played a ton of Gretsch, Gibson, Epiphone guitars recently and nothing spoke to me or felt good to play. These axes are selling like hotcakes and mine was back ordered for 3 months. When it arrived I looked over every inch…and WOW! Not one blemish or imperfection. Beautiful looking guitar (I got the blue) Sat down and strummed a chord unplugged and was blown away by how articulate and LOUD the guitar was without amplification. Totally unreal. I knew it was gonna sing. I played the guitar unplugged for a long time, and was stunned by how it responded. Neck felt great much like my Tele, but just a bit thicker. Love the stainless steel frets. Now for the tones. I’m so glad I went with the p90s. Everyone says they are the perfect middle ground between single coils and HB. The 5 way switch gives you a ton of usable tones and the focus switch does something magical. Pushes the mids and gives you the sound that a Les Paul might offer, but still retains the clarity even when doing dense chord work or at higher gain settings. The quality, craftsmanship, electronics etc. are equally as good as any high end Gibson or Strat out there. People don’t think about Yamaha for electric because they don’t have new models out a lot, and most folks go for the cliche brands. I’m super happy with this guitar. You won’t be disappointed either!

I have found the perfect electric guitar. I have been playing since the 60's so many many guitars have come and gone and this is the best yet! Every feature is spot on with the focus switch being super usable. It warms up the tone and makes the P90's sound like classic 57 humbuckers. The 5 way switch provides many tones I have never had in a guitar. Un plugged it sings thanks tom the chambered body. Fret work is great and the rosewood finger board is perfect. I play out twice a week and everyone who plays it loves it. Now what do I do with all my other guitars?

Incredible guitar! Longtime 25.5" scale single coil player. Nice, varied tones. Totally meshes with my ingrained Fender history. (Didn't want mid-rangy humbucker pups). QC is top notch. The carbon fiber inserts, plus the roasted neck create super stability, evidenced by bending multiple strings with either an open A or E: No flatness. Wow.Alignment, nut slot height and fret work are spot on. Thick gig bag. The price totally belies what this gtr is.

This is my 9th guitar. I am 55 years old and forever learning I have been playing for 30+ years. I wanted to add a guitar with P90's to my collection. I watch reviews and read reviews a lot before making a decision. Yamaha blew it out of the part with this one. The finish is excellent. I did find one small dent but it was very small. The frets are done very well. I still took out my kit and rounded and polished them to a mirror like surface. But they were some of the best. Even beating a SE PRS I got last year. The sound is great. I like the pull pot option because I can move from a Mello rhythm tone to a screaming P90.The hardware is very good. First thing I usually do with the import guitars is change the tuners. I am not going to do that with this guitar. Yes I like locking but these work so well and are super precise. I am a fan of PRS and the SE line and this is better than that. The gig bag is nice and better than the PRS SE gig bag. Pull the trigger! Yamaha doesn't get enough love out there in the guitar world!

ive been wanting a p90 loaded guitar for some time now...i have all the other types of guitars covered-humbuckers,a tele,a gretsch with filtertrons,etc...i was researching a couple of mid priced p90 guitars on the internet..and of course i did look at those gibson les paul specials(used)..after about a month of listening and watching reviews i settled on the yamaha for its features, build quality, and good looks..i can say im totally impressed...came very quickly from zzounds!!! the guitar out of the box was set up well and stays in tune very well(something very important)..the tones are very versatile here with the 5 way switch and p90s..i know some reviewers said the "out of phase" 2 and 4 positions were not noticeable or usable which i find totally false..if you play clean through amp the sound difference is very obvious and gets into that strat 2 and 4 sound...when played clean or edge of breakup/slight crunch this guitar really shines...clarity and great dynamics..i generally dont use a pick and can really dig in for twang or crunch and pluck and get a great jazz/chet atkins sound...if you go the crankage route this thing rocks..the p90s do what they do....old sabbath, who, mountain, johnny thunders.etc...i hope somebody at yamaha reads this review and decides to make a 12 string version of these with cool racer colors!!!
