Hi gang... I'm a long-time Yamaha fan, currently with 8 different keyboards. I bought the PSR-EW310 thinking it would be a smaller, lighter substitute for my MM8 (which is the baby of the Motif line). Hundreds of sounds, yes, but mostly useless. Only 3 acoustic piano choices, and not my favorites like the Power Grand. Most all the electric piano choices have an unpleasant and edgy 'bark' when played hard.. not the natural & realistic push like the Motif piano samples. And it's missing the 'Sweet EP' sample. (The rest of the EW310's instruments sound fine.) This is a great keyboard for beginners.. well made, nice action for a synth-type, and lots of features for home entertainment and learning. But if you're thinking about taking this to a gig as a lightweight substitute, be sure and try one out first. You might be disappointed. Hundreds of sounds I'll never use, and lacking that dozen or so of Yamaha's best samples. In a nutshell.... well-made, lots of features, but it missed the mark as anything I'd take to a gig. It's not Yamaha's fault, they don't advertise this as a performance keyboard, I was just hoping they'd include some better acoustic and EP choices.
