"A GREAT PIANO SOUND A GREAT PIANO FEEL"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Go for it and don't waste your money on roland or korg.
Sound
The piano sounds 1 & 3 are great. I gave it 9 because there are some extra features in the hi end samples which is not presented on P140 like strings resonance(not sustain resonance ) or 5 or more layers of samples. you should listen to them via external speakers or good headphones to understand how beautiful they are. The internal speakers are good but not convenient. The other sounds are above the average BUT don't forget it is a digital piano not a work station keyboard.
Features
As a digital piano it's full of features. split mode. dual mode. control on the portion of sustain and key off samples, useful effects, left hand and right hand mute system for practicing tunes, 2 track recorder, half damper effect and so many other features. The piano action is superb. you can play with a new level of expresivness and feel. It's YAMAHA GRADED HAMMER EFFECT action system. Some people may say this action is good or that action is bad . We can look at this issue through two diffrent perspectives. 1- Some people look for a piano action which is exactly the same as real acoustic piano. These people should pay alot of money becuase emulating the real hammer mechanism with all of its details cost dozens of bucks.Beside that the actions on the acoustic pianos are diffrent from model to model and from brand to brand. Therefore no unique acoustic piano feel exists. 2- some people look for a piano action which they can exercise or play on it and the feel would be some thing that beside enjoys from paying, when the time comes to paly on a real thing they can do it with no difficulties. The second approach is the one on which P140 has been designed. The action is very good but even with blindfold test you can easily recognize that it's a digital not acoustic. but don't make mistake . The keys are properly weighted and I promise you will be satisfied by playing it.
Ease of Use
Plug and play piano sounds. but for split mode and choosing other voice you have to go inside the functions.
Quality
The body is very beautiful but weak plastic. It seems that(not happened yet) it can easily be damaged. The rest is ok as far as quality is consern.
Value
IT WORTHS EVERY DOLLAR. A pack of good sounding piano sounds with amazing YAMAHA GHE piano action system and alot of extra features Plus a nice look. You will not be disappointed if you don't expect too much from the internal 6watts speakers althogh they are fine according to my taste.
Manufacturer Support
no problem yet
The Wow Factor
I will buy another p140 if this would be stolen.

"Poor performance from a "reputable" company"

Defective in three months. Poor quality for a digital piano. Would avoid any additional purchases from Yamaha. Don't expect much from any warranty.
Sound
It was nice while it worked.
Quality
It stopped working after 3 months. Defective piano and still waiting for the Yamaha "warranty" to replace. Have been waiting 3 months so far. It was nice while it lasted.
Value
Was very disappointed in the piano breaking down. The instrument was not moved or damaged in any way. A rather expensive lesson in a defective product. Warranty is worth about the paper it is printed on. Should be priced at $19.95
Manufacturer Support
I am still waiting for the Yamaha support. It has been three months so far with no real help at all. Yamaha wanted all receipts, paper work and registration. There still has been no help from Yamaha. Piano broke down after just three months of use. It stopped working mid-way in a routine program.
The Wow Factor
Not a very practical addition in that it does not work.
