For the price, this guitar sounds as good as guitars in the $400 range. A very good value! If you need a cheap acoustic that is well built and sound very bright but also has some warmth to it, this is a great purchase. I recommend this to my guitar students when choosing a good guitar that won't break the bank.

"Can't beat it for the money."

I played five of these at my local shop. They were all a little different. The one I bought is amazing. I'm sure with a little tweaking the others would be as good. Mine played great right away and needed no adjustments at all! Didn't even change the strings. Now I'm looking at the Yamaha 12 string. If they're as nice as the FG800 I'm gettin' one. I also have a Martin DX1AE acoustic and the Yamaha is easier to play than that.

Playing for 50 years. Mostly home recording these days.

Musical Style:

Playing classic rock and acoustic ballads. Some country.

"This Guitar Will Surprise You!!"

Exactly what I said. I've been buying quite a few guitars online recently. A few just under $1000. I already have a nice collection of guitars. Some in the $2000.00+ range. I bought this guitar to take out on the road with me or to bring to parties, bbq's, camping, etc... Boy was I ever surprised when I took this out of the box and started playing it. The sound, the feel and the action were just excellent. It even looks great and no messy glue on the inside either. Everything is neat and tidy. This FG800 really surprised the heck out of me.I can honestly say it stands right up to some of my more expensive acoustics. Not 100% of course, but for the price it comes very close. Like I mentioned earlier in this review I purchased guitars just under a grand and unfortunately had to return some of them due to some overlooked quality control issues. Not so with this FG800. Whatever Yamaha is doing they're doing right. If you're looking for a nice sounding, playing dreadnought guitar that won't break the bank this is definitely the one. Spending more money doesn't always mean it's better.

Been playing many, many years.

Played perfect right out of the box. Sounds clear, crisp and good sustain and projection. Action is perfect. Thank you zZounds!
