"Don't let the low price scare you. It is the real thing."

Don't hesitate because of the entry-level price. This is not a toy. It is the real thing. Nato sounds fine in a 12 where you want crisp brightness. The finish is perfect in my opinion.
Sound
Very bright and jangly. Records well. Not a lot of bass, but it should loosen up and get a little warmer and mellower as time goes on, since it is solid sitka. So it should be a 10 in a few years.
Features
Beautiful guitar. The cream trim and reddish Nato make the whole guitar seem to glow. The rounded shape of the bridge is a nice touch.
Quality
OK. This isn't a Taylor or a Guild, so you can't expect perfection, but the quality if far and away above what you (or at least I) would expect anywhere near this price range. The Chinese (in this case specifically Taiwanese) have got it down pat, in my opinion.
Value
I can't imagine how they put out this guitar at this price. I have played guitars, especially 12-strings at four times the price that didn't FEEL this nice, and that is important to me in a 12. I expected it to feel good, I just didn't expect it to feel like it was custom built to my specifications--and it does. Maybe that's just my taste, since my previous 12 was also a Yamaha.
Manufacturer Support
It has a lifetime warranty, but I hope I never have to use it. The bracing and neck look like the thing should last a good 30 years easy. And at this price, why repair. Just replace.
The Wow Factor
This guitar is a must have for anyone who loves the sound of a folk acoustic 12 but does not want to pay what it usually costs for a decent one. Maybe they aren't all as nice as the one that got shipped to me, but if they are--well, no wonder everyone has trouble keeping them in stock.

only time will tell..
Sound
I have had well over 25 guitars in my time, this xmas was a bit of shopping time for me,i bought a 6 string Taylor that cost me 1800 and as well picked up this yamaha 12.i get to the store and my friend tells me he has a yamaha 12 in stock.i laugh no thanks,so im testing out other 12's he walks up,tells me just try it.i did and was blown away by the tone and comfort of the neck.for the price its a no brainer.
Features
would have been nice if it had a pickup, but for the price i can put one in if needed..
Ease of Use
this 12 is butter...nice neck great feel, great tone..i have only had it for a couple of days..i really am blown away how nice it sounds.i have owned many 12 strings in my time that have cost me a crap load more..this guitar really is a steal.the neck is a charm.one thing about 12's with me is the cramping after a while of playing..the neck is not as wide as most so it really is nice to play..
Quality
solid top.looks feels and sounds like good quality..like i said i bought a taylor for xmas.i dont buy crap.yamaha has been around for ever, they have had plenty of time to perfect and learn from there mistakes.
Value
this 12 is worth way more then going price.
Manufacturer Support
have only had it 2 days, hope i never have to call them.

"Don't buy this thing!!!"

Overall: 2 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
If I can't repair it I'm gonna scrap it, or give it to the war effort, or something. I'll never get a Yamaha guitar again.
Sound
The thing sounded ok for a short amount of time.. see below
Features
blech, it won't jump out at you, but with 12-strings keep it low in the mix and it adds a nice texture no matter what
Quality
THE WORST. I had this thing for not even a year and then the durn thing cracked where the neck connects to the body. I didn't realize it at first but it was getting impossible to play and it sounded like garbage - it's been sitting around taking up space ever since. The only saving grace is that if you happen to have saved the receipt, Yamaha supposedly has a lifetime warranty on just those sorts of damages... we shall see...
Value
Who needs a reasonably priced 12-string?!?! If you're into music enough to specifically need one, spend the dough and get a Martin or something.
Manufacturer Support
not sure yet, I hope they're awesome and helpful and fix it for me. I have to take it to the store where I got it, then they deal w/ Yamaha.
The Wow Factor
No appeal. If I can successfully repair it it'll be a neat little tool, almost a gimmick, to a couple recordings.
