"Yamaha is very understated instrument and the company could sell the product of this quality at a higher price but it is a very"
Not planning on replacing it.
Sound
My first exposure to Yamaha company was with their motorcycles, I have owned three of them and they all ran like clockwork. It wasn't until my teens I realized Yamaha was originally a musical instrument company. Well now in my 40's since I had the time and could afford to do so I decided to learn to play the guitar, something I wanted to do since I could remember but could never afford. I looked around at the beginner instruments, and my problem was I am left handed and there were very few selections for a left handed guitar player. One of the choices I found was the Yamaha FG720SL. It was well built like their bikes, very precise, and even a novice could see the care that was taken in it's construction. I have a pretty good ear and after purchasing it I found that a couple strings were flat sounding. I took it to a guitar shop in Kentucky where my in laws live and the manager there showed me the problem, the strings had stretched out from sitting. He recommended D'Addario phosphor bronze strings and the sound really came out. Everything was bright defined and could cover a vast range of tones. Surprisingly, I didn't expect the range this instrument could provide, I understood that it is very difficult for a manufacturer to engineer a soundbox to allow such range, but Yamaha did their homework. After 5 years owning this instrument the sound has enriched from over the years and things breaking in and the guitar maturing. It still looks as fresh as the day I bought it and I expect this piece to be handed down after me.
Ease of Use
Changing the strings to D'Addario EJ!6 strings and a simple readjustment of the neck brought out the performance and the tonal qualities of this instrument.
Quality
The only imperfection of this instrument was a single small piece of sawdust was embedded in the clear-coat, you have to look hard to see it. And my other gripes are the limited selection on the finishes for the left handed instrument, and the stick on pick guard sits oddly against the quality of the overall instrument, I would liked to have seen one like on a Gibson where it was a thicker more substantial material.
Value
Very much so.
Manufacturer Support
Can't say never needed anything more than strings for it.
The Wow Factor
It is a simple plain instrument not very outstanding from first glance but closely inspected the quality sets it apart.

"Best guitar with excellent sound"
I'll be keeping it as long as possible maybe playing it for my grandchildren.
Sound
The sound quality is absolutely excellent for the price range. I have tried Takamine, Taylor, fender, ibanez, epiphone before testing this. There is definitely better one than this but it costs at least 3 times more.
It is has full range of sound. The high string sound crisp and clear and low string sound warm and clear bass without muddy.
Sound excellent for both finger pluck and strumming.
Quality
Good build. Nice finishing
Value
Yes, it definitely worth more.
The Wow Factor
I got the brown sunburst version. It look ugly through the pictures in the internet. But looking at it personally, it look gorgeous. Don't let the picture fool you. Take a look of it yourself.

"Better than some guitars costing hundreds more!"

I would definately get another if anything happened to this one, you can't buy a better guitar for the price!
Sound
I happened to drop in a store that is part of a local chain, and tried out most of the guitars there, and found a used Guild d55 for a great price I couldn't believe the sound and playability. I didn't have the cash to get it at this point, and I was going away to Vegas for a week, so I didn't get it then. I went down there today but to my disapointment, it was gone. I tried all their other guitars except the Yamahas, thinking that how could anything at the price sound good. Nothing appealed to me, so I decided to try their other store. I looked for a Guild there but 2100.00 for a new d55 was way out of my price range. None of the other guitars I tried had the sound I was looking for, til I finally picked up the fg720s. Well I tell you I could not believe my ears, it was so sweet, the sound just jumped out of it, plenty of clean bass, and crystal highs. It sounded just like the Guild to me, and the action was perfect, low and easy to play.
Quality
Everything is looks neat, inside and out, solid in everyway.
Value
I tried a lot of much more expensive guitars than this one, and few came even close to the sweet sound of this one, the Guild being the only one I liked as much, and it was over 1800 dollars more. The used Guild I looked at was around $750.00 which I know is a bargain, but if I didn't know what the price of the Yamaha was, I would have been willing to pay hundreds more for it after I tried it.
Manufacturer Support
Have not had it long enough to comment.
The Wow Factor
It wasn't as flashy as some of the guitars I tried (abalone, mother of pearl inlays everywhere), but the redish tint with gold sunburst, is very attractive.
