For reference, I’ve owned Nord stage, korg Triton and Kronos, Yamaha motif xs, Roland vr and Juno Ds series among others as well as software. This keybed feels fantastic and is around 30 lbs. The only things that compete with 73/76 weighted keys are korg sv series, which is much heavier and less features (split layer, usb audio, pitch/ mod wheels), the studiologic sl73 which has no internal sounds. I sent it back because 1 key would not respond on multiple midi sound sources. The Nord electro has better organs, but no pitch or mid wheel and no usb audio interface built in, and the Nord hp keybed is not one to fall in love with. As much as I loved my Nord keyboards, this cp73 keyboard feels better by a noticeable margin. Also the dexibell s3 has decent keys and pitch/mod, but outside of piano, they are nowhere near the beauty of these sounds. The piano, rhodes, wurly, strings and pads on this are great (compared to anything at any price), and picking your split or layer points is very similar to Nord, but superior and actually flexible on this Yamaha. If you need a ton of sounds that will build combis like a korg m50, or a Yamaha modx, or a Roland Juno ds, this is not that. This will however split or layer 3 sounds, so bass/piano/ pad or rhodes/dx7/piano or any gorgeous layers can be created here. Also the built in usb audio interface lets you use mainstage or Logic Pro with a simple usb connection. I recommend using this either stand alone as a great sounding “main keys” board or on the bottom of a 2-tier rig with either a little synth or your MacBook. Also the pedal programming is flexible by section (leave it off of piano or bass, but turn synth pad down etc). If you get a chance to play an mx88 or p121 this feels at least as good as those and has higher quality pianos and easier fx sections. The only thing I took a partial star off of was because the organs are kind of your basic motif type sound. It is not a drawbar engine. But for the price difference between this and the red competition, this plays better has a few more features Nord doesn’t offer even in keyboards that cost thousands more. I play in bands, so having 73 weighted keys with killer pianos and easy usb connection is the best thing around. Obviously the yc73 is going to move some people past this keyboard, but for a few hundred dollars less (ie enough to buy an organ module or a Mac or a small synth workstation), the cp73 sounds amazing, feels better than all other 73s, and pairs up to computers. If you don’t think you will like it, I won’t sell it to you, but if you are thinking you MIGHT like it, I’d say “yes; it is among the most satisfying you can get your hands on...”
