"OK, Let's Talk Turkey..."

Here's my review in one word: WOW! Ok, now let's talk turkey. First off, I wish the on line reviews would stop calling this an OK entry level guitar great for beginners (It is great for beginners)...but I have been playing for 56 years so hardly a beginner. Currently touring and fronting a blues band and I do plenty of solo gigs too. I own very high end Martins, Gibsons and Fenders. I found an APX 500II in a second hand store and they wanted 339.00 for it so I looked it up because I was unfamiliar with the model. They wanted the same price as a new one so I passed, but it felt FANTASTIC in my hands. I couldn't get it out of my mind so I checked out zZounds and they had the APX 600 ( the upgraded version of the 500II ) with a gloss top for the same as the used one in the second hand store. Why I ordered it, I don't know. But it arrived less than 24 hours after ordering. Plugged it in and wow! Fantastic. The amplified acoustic sound I was looking for in a guitar that weighs less than 7 pounds with a neck as thin as my custom Strat. What more could I ask for? The fit and finish are flawless. Intonation was spot on. Easiest 'acoustic ' guitar I ever played. Now, the sound unplugged was so-so, but fine for noodling around on the couch while the Mrs was watching Lifetime ( the man bashing channel) but plugged into an amp or a PA and this thing really comes to life. Great bass response, crisp clear highs and balanced mid range. I have guitars that cost literally thousands of dollars each ( just ask zZounds, that's where I buy most of my good stuff) but this $339 'entry level' guitar is phenomenal. Taking it to a gig tomorrow, and may leave the $2100 Martin at home. I may even just go back to the second hand store where I saw the first one and pick that up too, price be darned. VERY pleased with this Yamaha APX600. But please don't think of it as an 'entry level' guitar, think of it as the best bang for the buck you could get.

A really great budget friendly guitar, especially on the payment plans zZounds offers. Even with the price tag this guitar plays well with a low action, the tone is clear with a nice bass to round it out, and the electronics are solid. The cons I’ve experienced owning this guitar would be the tuners on mine are stiff which makes tuning difficult, and the back of the neck is not very well finished, also strings needed changing (but that’s every new guitar honestly) but those cons alone are definitely not enough to make me put this guitar down! I would definitely recommend this guitar for someone looking for a comfortable guitar that looks as nice as it sounds

This is the perfect marriage of price and quality. I ordered mine in the Old Violin Burst and the finish is stunning. The quality of fit and finish along with great features is second to none. Love the mid range sweep in the pre-amp. The Turner works easy and love the fact that it uses AA batteries instead of the more expensive 9 volt. Plays easy sounds great plugged in and while it's a thin line it still has above average tone on your couch. At $299.00 there is nothing to think about.

This thin line guitar sounds great. Its not loud but not quite either. It makes it great for just strumming in my living room. The big thing for me is that it's thin and not bulky like my other acoustic guitars. I have a bad right shoulder and it makes it easy to play. The electronics are not bad at all and I love that they use 2 AA batteries and not 9 volt battery. The frets are better than expected in that there is no sharp eges. All smooth. Tuners are smooth and work just fine. The pick up works great and I'm not getting any buzzing or interference. I can't find anything to hate on this guitar. It's a great guitar for the money.

I bought my 1st Apx600 a couple years ago in the black I was absolutely in love with this guitar considering I’ve owned multiple Taylor’s , martins as well as a 1945 southern jumbo all excellent guitars but huge price tags … but here I am purchasing a 600 for 2nd time because someone stole my first one I’m going with the oriental blue this time absolutely stunning color.. and the fact I’ve bought almost all my instruments from zZounds on there 0% payment plan makes buying guitars an easy and non stressful process I really appreciate these guys .. all In all I have huge list of pros and no cons.. I’d 10/10 recommend!!

Ahem...retired and on the Donut Brigade this Yahama was just the trick for playing comfortably. It’s thin cut design doesn’t compromise on big sound of a full dreadnought either. The oval sound hole lends a unique look just right for an eccentric guy like me. I choose oriental blue and it’s gorgeous! It’s electric pick up sounds true in every respect and makes a beginner like me sound good. Thanks to zZounds for making it so easy to acquire this wonderful instrument. Their support and customer service has been exemplary!

This guitar is absolutely amazing. I bought it in vintage white and it has to be the most beautiful acoustic I’ve ever seen. Sounds amazing right out of the box. Great, big sound and just wait until you plug it in. Doors will fly wide open! I’m in love!

If your looking for a great sounding electric acoustic that easily transitions from a small profile neck electric then the APX-600 is a great choice. Sounds great right out of the box and the intonation is spot on. It also has a very fast action for an acoustic. I would recommend light gauge strings as the seem to be the best fit for the small profile neck. I used DAddario Phosphor Bronze EJ15'S .010-.047.

Bought the Yamaha APX-600 on the 4 payment plan. It arrived in factory fresh condition with no flaws at all. Very pleased with zzounds as this is my second guitar purchase with them and with the best outcome. The Yamaha APX-600 has a small profile neck design and electronics that makes it easy to transition from an electric to an acoustic and still deliver an excellent acoustic sound. Would highly recommend this instrument to any player looking for a fast action electric acoustic.
