"The Washburn N1 Nuno Bettencourt signature series is a hot, light perfectly built guitar. Gives way more bang for your buck, you"
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I have had my original N1 since 1995 and I do not plan on replacing it any time soon. In fact, I plan on purchasing at least one more.
Sound
The sound is full of tone on the neck pick-up, and bright and hot on the bridge pick-up. The quality of the sound is very intense.
I play covers and original music that is compared to Chevelle, and it works perfect.I use it out live and it has produced a great tone and sound in the studio as well.
A good idea for just a bit more bite in sound is a Seymour Duncan sh-6 in the bridge spot.
Features
Just included a tremlo bar. Not to complex, one volume pod and a three-way switch. As for least useful features, it is perfect for me some players may want more toys to tinker with.
The guitar is very light and easily manuverable, the choice of wood, hardware and electronics fit perfect and come at a great price!
Quality
Great craftsmanship with attention to small details. It is a simple but well crafted instrument. There were no cosmetic blemishes, the guitar was tightly put together and well presented. I have put my original N1 through the ringer for over 10 years and it has stood the test of time. Touring, stage antics and hissy fits. It is perfect for stage use and road travel gigs and seems like it will last forever.
Value
The N1 is a perfect instrument for it's price, it actually surprises me that Washburn can get away with selling it so cheap!
It is a diamond in hiding, and definately a hot guitar at a hot price!
Manufacturer Support
The Wasburn company has answered every question I have sent them in a very timely manner. They are easy to contact and know there products inside and out.
I have placed a SH-6 in the bridge spot of my original green N1.
And it carries .013 gauge strings and is tuned to B full time.
The Wow Factor
The natural wood finishes are so Earthy and give you a sense of being one with the instrument. And the way it plays makes you want to go all night.

"Washburn Nuno Bettencourt N1 1994 and 1995 model Korea"
I have a Black 1994 and an Ivory 1995 N1. They are otherwise identical. Washburn 421 and 423 humbuckers, volume knob,3-way switch, Grover tuners, tremolo bar. These guitars are light weight, fast, and sound incredible. Great tone. They rock and have great sustain as well. Highly recommended. Make sure you get one made in Korea. The crappy N2- made in China with a possibly fake Floyd Rose Bridge is NO GOOD. Thry one of the N1s out. You will be very happy. A lot of guitar for the price. I like the N1 better than an American Fender Stratocaster.
