I have owned this amp for about 8 months now. You will definitely need an EQ running through the effects loop with this one. Straight out of the box with no pedals or effects, it sounds really muffled. I was a little worried I would have to return it because of this. But with some time and effort I really have my sound dialed into it now and sounds great. I also swapped out the tubes for a set of KT77's. The factory 6L6's weren't bad, just prefer KT77''s. This amp makes biasing extremely easy. I would also recommend an attenuator to dial in your volume. Gets really loud really fast. You basically get four different voicings out of this amp--clean, basic rock/blues, extreme metal, and extreme metal with a bass booster. There is no reverb or any other built-in effects. Very good and versatile amp if you have a good effects rack or pedal board available. One thing you don't need, is an overdrive or distortion pedal.
