Like I said “VERY impressive” indeed! The last 13 years I’ve been playing in the most iconic Honky Tonk in Nashville. The music goes from 11am til 2am, three hundred and sixty five days a year. Back line bass rigs get shredded from constant use. Recently the owner dropped some serious coin on a new rig that includes the Trace Elliot Pro 4x10 cabinet. From the first note I knew this was a huge step up. The notes are super clear, focused, fat and well defined. At high volume it doesn’t sound overly thick in any frequency range, and doesn’t choke when you put the pedal down. We went through our repertoire of rock N roll, country, blues, rockabilly, bluegrass hillbilly jazz, surf, ballads and the whole shebang… I played 4 string electric but mostly upright bass, sometimes furiously slapping that thing like a red headed step child! This cabinet said “I can do that” to everything I threw at it. It was brutally honest and articulate out of the gate and because I could hear every note up and down the neck, it MADE ME play better. I was going to call this review “Holy Grail” but that title will be reserved for the update if this thing survives until next December. I’ve been playing professionally since about 1988 and I can’t remember a cabinet that’s sounded better than this one in a live situation. Now I want to try the Trace Elliot Pro 2x12!
Quality
This cab seems to be built tough. The grill is heavy duty, the finish is heavy duty, the casters that come with it are approximately sized. First class fit and finish all the way!
Value
If you’re a professional bassist who’s out there playing nice rooms to outdoor stage that you need to fill with your BIG FAT NOTES, then this absolutely a top contender that rivals whatever boutique cabinet builder that comes along.
