"Tama Swingstar"

I've been playing drums since, 1978. I've had drums of many different brands, and qualities. Ludwig, Yamaha, Fibes, Mapex, Pearl, Tama... I just purchased a used Swingstar yesterday, brought it home and rocked it for 3 hrs straight! The sound quality, the durability, the highs, mid-tones, and the low riding thunder of this awesome kit reminded me of why I love playing the drums. I've met and jammed with the pros, and can say from a professional standpoint, that these drums regardless of what any web site, or person may say, are of a high quality. This will be my last drum set.

I will play these for years while I save up for a more expensive set of drums. If you really want a real drum set to practice on buy this now and save some money to get a really expensive drum set you really want.
Sound
You will enjoy this drum set right out of the box. But do yourself a favor and buy some heads, top and bottoms for all drums and you will truly love this set. ALthough the stock bass drum heads sounds great.
Features
This is a complete drum set. When you buy this set you will get everything you need to start playing. It even includes a dvd that will walk you through the very simple assembly of your drum set.
Quality
This is a very well made kit and a very, very solid set of drums. All stands are double braced. After putting everything together and making sure everything was tight nothing wobbled around while I played. You will enjoy this set for years and years.
Value
This drum set is the best value in this price range.A complete drum kit this well made for this price.Best value, Best value, Best value, shop around you will see what I mean.
Manufacturer Support
I have not had to deal with Tama directly. That they took the time to make a dvd with professional drummers in it shows me they care about their products and their buyers.
The Wow Factor
I bought my Tama swingstar with the midnight blue shells and after work I cant wait to come home and play my drums.Im costantly staring at them because I put them in my living room.

"Tama Swingstar Rules!!!!!!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I plan on keeping this set for many years. I played drums many years ago and have recently gotten back into them. This will probably be my last set, and I'll probably supplement the set with new cymbals, and a double bass drum pedal a few years down the road.
Sound
The sound is very good. I had to muffle the snare with a towel between then drum and the stand and that seems to work well.
Features
The accessories included in the package were outstanding. The snare, hi hat and cymbal stands are of high quality. The bass drum pedal is also very durable and smooth. The cymbals have a nice sound are not in any way too thin or weak.
Ease of Use
Very easy to set up right out of the box. Took me about an hour, and I took my time. The tuning took a few days till I finally got the right sound, for me.
Quality
I got the vintage red set, and it's a very attractive and pleasing to look at. The overall appearance of the set is one of strength and durability. It's definitely not a set that's going to fall apart or break any time soon. I'm very impressed with the quality!!
Value
Considering the cymbals and stands that are included, the set was an amazing value.
Manufacturer Support
I like Tama.
The Wow Factor
The vintage red is hot!!!

"Tama swingstar is the best for all styles of music."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I will be satisfied forever.
Sound
The sound is awesome! After I upgrade my skins and got some rings for them though. But it gave me the nice punch sound I wanted on my toms without the nasty overtones. Tama definitely clobbers the competition when it comes to quality sounding drums. I went over to my friends house and played on a set from Pearl and I thought it was ok but it didn't have the sound that I was looking for. This set is good for recording and live. In the garage or outside, it has great sound anywhere.
Features
It included everything I wanted to start out with. Maybe throw in some rings to dull some of the overtones on the toms.
Quality
The product is built well. Haven't had any problems with any equipment. Tama definitely lives up to its legend of being the strongest name in drums.
Value
Heck yes! It would be foolish to sell it for anything less.
Manufacturer Support
I upgraded all the skins on my drums with ease. I'm looking foward to gettin new cymbals next.
The Wow Factor
This product looks awesome! Sleek black is just the color I wanted my set to be. I've added on double-bass petals,a cow bell, and got a new seat, and will soon add on more.

"Wow!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I will be using this product for years to come... great set!
Sound
the sound of the toms with some new heads sounds pro, but the slight snare buzz you find in the set makes the sound just shy of a perfect 10.
Features
It came with 3 cymbals: a hi-hat with a nice sound to it. a great 16" crash that I use with my Zildjians, and a crash ride. The only concern is that the bell on the ride is a little small, but that is why it is a crash ride. 10/10!
Ease of Use
Amazingly easy to use, especially how this is my first set to date i've owned.
Quality
Get new heads, and these things have the potential to sound like a pro's kit.
Value
I got the set and hardware new for $550. An amazing deal for the most powerful name in drums!
Manufacturer Support
I never had to call Tama regarding the set, so I will give this category a 10/10 in durability.
The Wow Factor
I got the black model, and it is just beautiful. The shine of the toms could blind!

"Defianetly woth it "

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
The sound is great, but the heads that come with it are crap
Features
The cymbals are decent and will last a while. The Hi-hats are probably the best of the three. The crash isn't terrible either. It isn't a high quality cymbal, but it works. The bass pedal ia little wierd so i recommend getting something thats better but still not pricy.
Quality
It is a durable set.
Value
Its totally worth buying. esspecially if your a beginner.

Tama SS52H6C Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
i feel as though this drumkit is alot more emotive than my own. i could really see myself making people nod their heads and stuff, the higher toms are alot smaller and tighter than my own aswell, making a more bongo-ish sound. i thought it was one of the best kits i have ever played on.
Features
it included a cowbell and 2 extra higher toms, which enhanced the fills and also three crash cymbals, really powerful playing.
