"No better double bass pedals on the market in my opinion"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I played with DW pedals for several years and was satisfied with them. I went to a music store and as soon as I played the Iron Cobras I bough them on the spot. They are by far the best I have ever played with in terms of feel, power for effort and overall quality.
Sound
The sound of these pedals is fantastic. I use a REMO coated Emporer head with some Evans head protectors. The punch is very strong and tight.
Features
The pedals come with extra springs, hex wrench and a few other odds and ends. Essentially everything about these pedals can be adjusted to suit your tastes. It also comes with a drum key that fits into a plastic holder on the left pedal, a very nice touch because I am notorious about misplacing my key!
Ease of Use
Right out of the box these pedals are as easy to use as any I have ever tried. The factory settings will probably be fine for 75% of the users. But you can adjust nearly everything to suit your own playing style and preferences.
Quality
Legendary TAMA quality. Finish is just what you would expect from TAMA. All my kits are TAMA and this is the perfect complement to them. The pedals and associated hardware are very robust, and the double chain design will assure many years of play. The carrying case is a very nice bonus. I gig a lot with these pedals and before getting these, I used to toss my DW pedals into my equipment bag, not the best thing to do. The only concern I have is the mounts for the beater pads are plastic. They seem robust enough but I am not sure how long they will last. New beater pads are not expensive though, so I will probably get some extras and toss them in the equipment bag.
Value
You will be very hard pressed to find a better value for the money. Granted, you can get a decent used kit for what you will pay for the pedals, but these pedals will be around a long time after that kit will be!
Manufacturer Support
In all my years of playing I have never had an issue with any TAMA equipment so I really cannot comment.
The Wow Factor
I'm not sure how drum pedals can have "sex appeal", but the aesthetics of these pedals are as good as it gets. Gorgeous finish.

"This time, the Cobra charmed me!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I don't expect anything better to come out! I haven't tried the Demon Drive pedals, unfortunately, but even if they are better, I'll stick with my Cobras (I can't afford anything else right now). The only thing that'd really make me want a different product is an improved (that's gonna be hard to do) version of the current Power Glide pedals. I originally was going to buy DW 9000's, but my friend convinced me otherwise. He told me over and over to get Power Glide pedals. I tried out a demo set and I fell in love. I didn't fall, actually... I dove headfirst into it! The pedals have really helped me meet my goals of drumming (I'm still working on getting up to 300bpm from where I'm at right now, but that'll take some time). If I lost them, I'd be devastated and I'd quickly get money for another set. The only thing I wish I knew about the pedals before I bought them is that they're so good. Basically, I didn't know about them before and I wasted my time looking at other pedals. I like the speed, adaptability, and smoothness the most-perhaps it's just me and my drumming style, but I feel that it does lack a bit of power. That's really the only complaint... and I want a Cobra Coil :)
Sound
Technically, it doesn't have any sound. I just rated it 10 because I love the pedals. The kick drum has the sounds =)
Features
Mine had more than I expected. I didn't expect the tool that came with it (though I lost mine). I didn't expect the ability to literally make the pedals the way you want them (you can change spring tension, footboard level and height, beater length, distance of the beater from the head...), and I didn't expect the amazing speed that comes from them. The only disappointment I have is that mine didn't come with a Cobra Coil, which I heard is helpful. I can probably buy one to put on my pedal, though, so there's no worries there.
Ease of Use
I personally can't do any type of hanging foot technique for fast drumming. I always have my feet completely on the pedal, heels-down. I'm not sure if I'd be able to do a hanging foot variant with other pedals (although at Guitar Center, I worked it out somewhat with some DW 5000's), but I love how responsive the pedals are. They're easy to set up and easy to adjust. Compared to my original kick pedals, these are blessings from God... I had a cheap PDP double pedal. It worked for a while, but my speed really improved with Iron Cobra. There are so many ways to have the pedal cater to your specific needs... this is the best drum decision I've made ever since the day I picked up a pair of drumsticks.
Quality
The only real problem I've had with mine is the squeakiness that happens to ALL pedals after you play them long enough. Just grab some WD-40 and you'll be fine. I don't completely like the connecting thing between the pedals, as it can fall off sometimes, but the overall quality is absolutely incredible. I was trying to modify the footboards a bit and one piece was screwed on so tight, it literally wouldn't budge with my drum key. These pedals aren't just carelessly put together-they have some real craftsmanship behind them.
Value
DW 9000's are more expensive and they're worse. I haven't tinkered with them, but I played the acoustic sets at Guitar Center with DW pedals on them and I played the sets with Iron Cobra pedals on them... Iron Cobra BY FAR is smoother and easier to use. The DW pedals I played on felt like they were coming apart, like they were grinding the mechanism that keeps them together. I haven't touched DW pedals since then.
Manufacturer Support
I bought these at Guitar Center. They were out of the product at the time I bought them, so they ordered from another store. They let me take the demo Power Glides home and switch them out for the new set. That's all the support I've ever needed. I bought a 2 year warranty (or something like that) and I haven't had to use it at all.
The Wow Factor
It's not beautiful, but I don't really think people should be focusing on feet. The fact that the quality is amazing and that the playability is incredible is what makes me love these pedals. They were suggested to me by a close friend, and I still verbally thank him for the suggestion. I bought these over a year ago.

"try and find a better pedal."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
so far so good, we'll see what happens after a few years of abuse.
Sound
The feel and accuracy of the iron cobras are amazing. Combine that with the durability and you'll quickly understand why I gave it all 10's...i've only had this pedal for a few days and I can already feel my double bass coming out more accurately and this pedal runs smoother than anything i've ever played on.
Features
You can adjust anything on this pedal, and all important tightening screws come with locks to secure them in place.
Quality
very rugged, obviously very durable...you could TRY to break these and you'd be beat down like a little girl.
Value
i was surprised to get the value pack version, which came with extra beaters (wooden, rubber), high tension springs, and a key chain.
Manufacturer Support
haven't seeked support
The Wow Factor
If you're serious about double bass and you want your legs to be justified for their work I'd strongly recommend the cobras.

"Good pedal but needs some serious changes."

Overall: 3 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I was expecting to be playing this for years from what I have heard, but with some of the problems I have found I may be switching soon and selling these pedals.
Sound
The beaters sound nice, good feel of them and the tone they create is really nice. Also no extra sound coming from the pedal, very smooth and quite.
Features
Had some nice things. The beater adjustment that allows the beater to be separate of the foot board was nice. Also the cobra coil is very nice. It adds a lot of rebound that is very helpful. The thing I hate about this is the clamp to mount it to your drum. The clamp is placed for a single pedal and it keeps the right beater in the center and the left beater slightly off center. This is extremely annoying. I have tried everything to center the two, but the left is always off. Also if you move the pedal right on your base drum do even it out it just pushes the pedal up off the ground. The clamp is an awful design and needs to be fixed. I prefer the clan on my $160 pearl pedals much more than this one.
Ease of Use
If you have played double bass before there is really no learning curve and nothing really new to learn. Adjustments are fairly easy, but they can be slightly annoying. The beaters are annoying to change as with the clamp. otherwise everything else is good.
Quality
It is made very strong. One of the strongest and well built pedals i know. I know that the pedal will last a long time. Only problem i found was of course the clamp and all of the screws were way to tight to take out by hand. Of course this assures that it will stay together but if you need to fix something is is extremely hard. Also the bearings used i found to be slow. I used to inline skate so i used to have to buy a lot of bearings and i know that the bearings they use could really be stepped up. To buy the bearings they use would cost like $10- $20 for an 8 pack. If they stepped up the bearings it would show a huge jump in smoothness and speed.
Value
I really didn't feel it was worth the price. It had nice components, but the clamp and bearings take away huge amounts of value on this.
Manufacturer Support
They have a little info packet that is kind of useful and they have online help. Nothing out of the ordinary both good or bad.
The Wow Factor
I think its really hyped up to be more than it is. They look really nice and have some really nice features, but there is defiantly some things that need major change.

Sound
Im brand new to double bass pedals. Was courious as to what all the talk was about and had the bucks so I bot one. Got it 2 days back. Well, Im dissapointed. Its built great but........the right beater buzzes when it hits the head. Left one is buzzes less but they both buzz instead of going WHOMP! That buzz is transferred to the snare drum where it makes more buzz. I have loosened the bass drum head and made it much tighter but cant seem to get a hard whomp instead of a hi frequency thumpbuzz. Shortened the beater, lengthened the beater, changed the pedal angle. No luck. Had a Rogers $75 pedal on the tama starclasic performer set I have and it worked fine. I just wanted to see what all the hellabalu was about. Think Ill just change the beater to a soft ball and try that. Its a good unit probably, but I cant make it work for me. Thee are a million stories out there in the city and this is just one of them. My story.

"FAST, LOUD, PERCISION! IRON COBRAS!!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
These pedals make me sound like my drum idols. I can play with more accuracy especially when playing fast. I have played with other pedals, but these are the only ones where I just put it together from the case, adjusted the spring tension, and I was good to go with a great sound.
Features
MANY different features all make this pedal better and more custom.
Ease of Use
for beginners you can just take it out of box and start playing. for more advanced players you just have to adjust to your liking and its then perfect.
Quality
I have the both the chrome and regular doubles. but when I played them they had no differences playing wise and the quality of these are great I dont ever think these will break or loosen during play.
Value
GREAT IF THEY EVER BREAK I WILL STILL GO WITH THEM
