This was my first double pedal, so naturally I wanted to find something (1) that I could afford, and (2) came highly recommended. The Tama HP200PTW scored highly on both counts. You can spend two or three or four times as much on a state-of-the-art double pedal, and I'm sure you will be thrilled with its performance. But, if you're on a budget, and you want quality at a price that doesn't exceed the cost of your new flat screen TV, the Tama is the ideal choice. It provides smooth action, easy set-up, durability (so far), and, as I discovered with hardly any research, it is the choice of many drummers who could probably afford to shell out far more.

Musical Background:

Have played drums since the days of calf-skin heads, sometime professionally, always for pure enjoyment.

Musical Style:

Jazz mainly, although in my college and graduate school days, I played a lot of rock and roll, as well as blues and R&B.

I've always used Tama pedals, my favorite ever is the entry level cheapo because it has the light spring feel I like and at $50 new I'm not worried about losing it. I was hoping this 200 would feel similar and it does, out of the box it felt perfect for me. Nice price and looks great, Tama ftw
