"Worthless Piece of Junk"
Verified Customer
zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
What a worthless piece of junk. First - distorts my monitors (yes, I made sure everything was grounded properly - and I have fairly new KRK RP-8s so they aren't the problem). Second - power cable can't even stay in properly. 3rd - it flat-out died within maybe 4 hours after I set it up.
Sound
First off, I just got this today and it had been a nightmare.
In terms of sound, for the first few minutes or so it was alright. Then I did a stretch of non-sound related activities and noticed that my monitors were "sputtering." It was weird. When I turned off the M-Patch they were fine. Also, the headphone amp is TERRIBLE. I cranked it and barely got a whisper out of my headphones.
Features
Some useful stuff - stereo/mono switch, 2 playback sources, 3 input sources, separate vol control for aux and main outputs. Also cool - you can use it as a 'desktop' unit or mount it in a rack.
Ease of Use
Super easy - don't even need the manual - just plug everything in and you're set.
Quality
Absolutely horrendous. After 10 minutes of use the power cord fell out of the back - it doesn't stay in very well at all. Had to duct tape it to make sure it didn't fall out again. Then, about a half hour later, the entire unit stopped working altogether. What a lousy piece of junk.
Value
Like I said before, a pile of junk.
Manufacturer Support
I called SM "Pro" Audio and they have evidently changed their number. How convenient.
The Wow Factor
It's just a brown and black box, nothing fancy. The knobs are very cheap-looking.

SM Pro Audio M-Patch 2 Customer Review
Im very happy with this, it looks good and does everything i have asked it too. I think SM Audio have done a really good job providing this at such a good price.
Sound
Seems good to me, using it from the sound card of my PC to drive two set of monitors and i cant hear any difference between it being and not being in the signal chain. Mind you the headphone amplifier is bad in my opinion however its a monitor volume control not a headphone amplifier (Just dont buy it for this feature)
Features
It has everything i could ask for at the price.
Ease of Use
Very easy and the manual is also really easy to read and understand.
Quality
It feels well built, the volume controls are nice to use with just the right amount of resistance and the buttons have a nice feel when being used. The only reason for the 8 is becasue the blue light on the front was dead on arrival (which isnt a problem which is why i didnt return it) so far it seems really good, it remains to be seen how long it will last
Value
Well i paid $150 Australian (RPP $200) and for that amount it is great value, more than i expected.
Manufacturer Support
Havent used it but i have friends who have used SM Audio's support and have mentioned how good it has been.
The Wow Factor
I didnt want it, I needed it, using a PC sound card to control monitors is a bad idea and i needed two sets connected to one source simple as that. I do admit i think it looks good on my dest though.

"M Patch 2 Monitor Controller"
Overall ist a 10 - The Best
Sound
The sound of this unit is crystal clear. The M Patch 2 is a passive monitor controller, so the sound going through the M Patch is not influenced by any electrics. This unit is for professional use. I can not say anything about the quality of the headphone output because I have never used the headphone out, for headphones I use a seperate headphone amp
Features
Well, you can connect two sets of active monitors to the M Patch, switch between these and also use both sets simultaneously. There also is a pair of stereo line-in's to connect a seperate audio source, for example a CD or cassette player. There is a stereo/mono swith and also a mute button. There also is a headphone output with a seperate volume control.
Ease of Use
How easy can it be. Read the owners manual
Quality
Good quality, yes there is a sturdy quality feel to this unit
Value
Good value, you can't get anything better for that price
Manufacturer Support
I do not know, did not need their support, and hope that I never will need it. So I give this a 5
The Wow Factor
I got it already, zZounds asks about Sex Appeal here, what a studid qusetion, we are talking about a piece of gear, not about Marylin Monroe
