Squier Sonic Telecaster Electric Guitar, with Laurel Fingerboard

With its laurel fingerboard, this Squier Sonic Telecaster produces a warmer tone than its maple-fingerboard counterpart, but still has that Telecaster twang.

I’ve been playing, recording, touring for going on 3 decades now. I’ve also owned/played multiple “bourgeoisie” vintage and modern gear in my day. So take that in mind as you read this review. In my personal opinion? You can’t go wrong purchasing a Squier these days. In fact my current studio mainstay go to guitars are:A 2013 Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar HB Special Bass (originally paid $199A 2017 Squier Affinity Jazzmaster HH (originally paid $199)And now this Torino Red Sonic Tele.Right out of the box I was genuinely floored by its aesthetics, and after setting it up (which you will have to do) and taking it for a spin?! Just wow. It’s truly amazing what a mere $200 can fetch you in this day and age. The pickups and pots are passable and quite usable, and won’t be my first modification. The tuners are decent enough for an intermediate player, but for me will be the first to be swapped, as well as the nut. That said? This Bullet series rebrand to Sonic has not only come with a new name, but also with a quality control close to what the older Affinity line had IMO.The fret job was good. Possibly 1 or 2 sharpies that can easily be taken care of, but overall?!!This is an awesome Telecaster for the money.Hands down.Thank you zZounds for being an awesome retailer! Love you guys!
