I originally bought this with the intention of harvesting it for parts for a swamp ash Tele that I'm building (as a Fender roasted maple neck is $400 on it's own). However, after receiving this guitar and playing with it for a few days...I am beyond impressed. I have always looked down my nose at Squier, and it appears I have been very wrong in doing so. Everything is great on this guitar. The hardware is all sleek. The neck is *gorgeous*. The roasting of the maple seems to take some of the 'snap' you tend to hear in a traditional maple fingerboard. The pickguard-less face really pops with the binding, and the relief cut on the back is always nice on a Telecaster. Switchplate is already reversed. Tone knob has an incredibly wide range. Lastly, the hotrail and humbucker are both far better tone quality than I expected to hear in a guitar for under $500. They both handle OD/distortion *very* well. After spending these last few days with it, I have decided to keep it and instead will harvest my Player Plus Tele for parts instead (yes, I am *that* impressed with this guitar). After noticing there were no reviews here for the model, and seeing so many online that have simply had the neck removed and relisted, I felt the need to let everyone know that this guitar is so much more than just spare parts. I'll definitely be checking out more from Squier. Particularly this Contemporary line. Strat or Jazzmaster next? We shall see!

Very nice hardware and roasted maple neck. Pickups sound great and give it a very rad sound. Con would be the plastic nut.

Just received today and I was blown away how beautiful and how well this guitar is setup. Plays way better than expected. The paint is a metallac white that definitly catches the light. Very light weight and the Toasted or Roasted Maple neck is perfect. Frets are smooth and the pickups are simply amazing. This is made in China and it is a five star guitar for sure. If you can get this, you won't be sorry. First guitar I have ever bought that didn't need anything. Thanks zZounds for a fantastic guitar.

I originally ordered this in the shoreline gold back when it was still on back order but then I just couldn't wait the 3 months for it to arrive so I purchased a different, much more expensive guitar that I have since traded / sold for something else. One day I was looking at getting yet another jazzmaster but while scrolling through the squier section this guitar popped up again , so I stared at the white one for about a half hour and then decided.. let's do it! This may be one of the best Squier's I have ever purchased! The pictures do not do this guitar justice at all. The white is actually more of a metallic white and the logo is mirrored which is a nice touch. As for the sound.. HOLY COW! The moment I plugged it in, switched to one of my ambient settings and went straight to the middle position with the pups and I immediately was inspired by the tone and also wrote a new beautiful riff in moments! I've had the guitar for about 3 weeks at the time of this review and I play it every day. I've had a few songs I've been working on and this guitar has really helped me get more accomplished with some arrangements and such. I'd also like to say that the rail humbucker can chug as well so don't let that turn you off if you think it can't. Squier knocked this one out of the park! The guitar arrived nicely packaged (as usual from zzounds) and out of the box there was absolutely nothing wrong with it that I can tell. Action was a little high but after a day or so it acclimated to my house and it's actually perfect as it sits! If you're looking at this guitar.. get it! You will not be disappointed!
