Squier Mike Dirnt Precision Electric Bass

The legendary Green Day bassist's signature Squier is incredible -- it meshes early '50s P Bass style with modern electronics for versatile and punky tones.

Mike Dirnt of Green Day. He released signature basses in the early 00's one model for Fender and one for Squier. Both came in different colours. In 2013, Fender released the road worn Dirnt precision, and this bass I'm reviewing, so they did tweaking to both of the models.
Sound
The pups on this one are NICE. My old bass was muddy and wasn't nearly as clear as this one. I could instantly tell a difference in the quality when I put the two head to head and didn't change any amp settings.
Features
All I will say is. It's still a Precision Bass. One volume and one tone. There aren't many features on a P bass but that's also not a bad thing either. It's a versatile bass and can be used not just for punk or Green Day. I use this bass for jazz scales and it does the job smoothly. It has an agathis body, it is much MUCH more lighter than the MIM fender version. They got rid of the star graphic on the body (which made the bass look like a toy) and the star is now on the neckplate.
Ease of Use
The only challenge I had was that out of the box this bass had really high action. It's an easy fox with 3 turns on the truss rod. If you're in doubt take it to a guitar shop or a music store that does maintenance and they can set up th neck for you. I had problems playing this bass before I had it set. Not that it was that big of a deal but if you don't know how to set the truss rod this can be a problem. IF you plan on going to get it set at a local guitar shop, bring the receipt so they can give you a discount because Fender give the 1 year warranty
Quality
All the hardware is really nice. The tuners feel strong and are well made. Same with the bridge and the knobs are tight.
Value
It is as valuable as the Classic Vibe or Vintage Modified series. In my opinion they can stand their ground with a Made in Mexico (MIM) Fender

The Wow Factor
The Wow factor for me was how amazing the quality and craftsmanship this bass has.

"WOW, MIKE DIRNT SIGNATURE ROCKS IT"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I love everything about this bass. I recommend it. It just needs truss rod work and new strings.
Sound
The sound quality is very nice. I'm keeping the pickups. The only modifications I'll make is changing the strings. It responds to playing nicely. Yes it's very compatible to my music style but to many as well, it's a pretty versatile bass considering it's a precision bass. It sounds more dull or more sharp with the tone knob.
Features
There aren't many features since it's a Precision bass. One volume, one tone. Not much too it. But that's not a bad thing, either. I like that there isn't a star graphic on the body anymore. I thought it was cool but then I thought it made the bass look like a toy. It looks better to me without it but that's just my opinion.
Ease of Use
It's good/fair. Straight out of the box it was very very smooth. The only thing that made it hard was the truss rod. The action of the truss rod straight out of the box is REALLY high. This bass comes with two keys for the truss rod and the bridge screws. I recommend taking it to a music shop that does repairs and set ups on guitars if you don't know much about adjusting the truss rod.
Quality
It's made very well, I own two versions of this bass from Zzounds. I got the Arctic White and the Black model. It seems like they are made consistently well. It seems like the materials would last some wear and tear for years.
Value
Compared to other basses. This model stands its ground. I can compare it and put it up to a MIM Fender. Other basses in this price range are the Classic Vibe series basses and the Vintage Modified series basses.
Manufacturer Support
Squier gives one year warranty.
The Wow Factor
The feel of the fretboard. The sound of the pickups at such affordable cost. You get what you pay for but I didn't expect this bass to be this good.
