This bass has exceeded my expectations, it plays well and is absolutely beautiful (black cherry) of which the photos don't do it justice. I've been playing a Musicman Stingray 5 for 20yrs now and I'm shocked at how much I'd rather pick up this Spectar instead these days. I will be picking up another soon, maybe move up to a neck through.

I recently played one at a music store and fell in love with it. So mine arrived from zZounds today with the black stain finish. The pictures really don’t do this bass justice. It is stunning visually. The bass is very comfortable and not super heavy (most of the weight is in the neck). It plays very well and the neck joint is extremely smooth and secure. The tone is very deep. I had to turn the low boost on my ampeg off, however, the tone is very crisp and cutting.I understand that this is a lower end model but it plays like a higher end Ibanez like a btb. Definitely the leader for this particular price point!

I purchased a Tobacco Sunburst 1 year ago. Today I am purchasing a Blue Stained one. These are amazing basses for the money. I have played musicman 5 strings for 25 years and now the Spector has stolen my heart!!

I you want a 5-string and a fan of NS Spector basses. This is the bass for you. The finish looks better in person and sounds awesome. I usually don’t like chrome hardware, but it looks great on this bass. The Spector active pre amp sounds great. No need to change anything.

This is aa awesome sounding and playing bass. I DID have to do some pretty in depth setup work. The neck needed a bit of adjusting, and the action was extremely high, so i had a bit of bridge work to do. I still thing the frets need filed and dressed but i will get to that later. I would expect the setup to be better out of box but its something i can take care of easily. Setup aside, this bass sounds and plays like bassed 3 or 4 times its price
