"Great Headphones"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Overall a great pair of headphones, they are durable, and comfortable. Definatly one of my better purchases.
Sound
We used to use crappy consumer headphones for our mixing, until I was introduced to Sony's MDR 7000 line of headphones. These headphones sound great, for both live mixing, and listening to recorded media. They are really revealing of the quality of the recorded media. They have a full solnic range, give tight bass, and smooth highs.
Features
came with a carrying bag, screw on 1/8" to 1/4" gold plated adapter, 3m cord. Basically everything yuo would expect to come with a pair of headphones.
Quality
These headphones are very well made, I've seen some used for remote broadcasts take *alot* of abuse and still work perfectly. most parts are replacable should they break, however it has a pretty solid construction.
Value
This product is definatly worht the price, it sounds great, and is durable.
Manufacturer Support
Can only give an 8 because I haven't personally needed their support, however a friend of mine bought a pair of 7506 headphones that came with a piece broken inside, so he sent it back under warranty and got a new one in about a week.
The Wow Factor
I'm fairly young for a sound technician, however a professional looking pair of headphones can make you also look professional. You could survive with crappy headphones and still make a decent mix, but this is your personal comfort. after extended periods of running sound, you definatly want a pair of good sounding, comfortable headphones. However there are higher pairs out there (at much higher prices).

Musical Style:

Techno, Rap, Rock, Alternative, pretty much everything.

"Rugged Indusrty standard"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
Really nice sound. Has a presence peak but, as these are desingned and used for field monitoring, that's a plus.
Features
I'd always hoped Sony would somhow make the adaptor "captive" on a lanyard or such so it doesn't get lost.
Quality
Here's the biggest plus for this set: rugged reliability. We've loaned these out to college students for years and they just don't break. 8 pair, hundreds of students, 6 years and only one fatality. The bags are shredded and the adaptors lost, but the headphones keep on keepin' on.
Value
Worth every penny. Even cheaper Sonys don't last nearly as long and these are industry standard in the field.
Manufacturer Support
Parts aren't available.

"Great headphone, but treat them gently!"

The headphones themselves are excellent... just be careful not to break the bit that holds the earpiece to the headband... you can't fix it - and you can't get a replacement for it... you *can* buy a headband kit, which is the entire headband and both earpiece holders assembly... for about $75.00 from Sony Professional... but at that price it's not much more to just buy new headphones. Sony always charges a huge price for their parts... the dirty little secret about them.

"MDR7505's - feel the base, hear the power, marvel at the quality."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
They're a bit big to wear around town and at the shops!! Very highly rated by me, the sound is awesome, but I know there is a bigger pair with even bigger speakers, so only a 9 for the MDR7505. I don't know how people can listen to music through lower quality headphones.
Sound
I tested a lot of sony headphones before buying the MDR7505, just kept on trying progressively more expensive nits until I found headphones that could handle volume and bass without distorting at half max volume when connected to my net MD. The MDR7505 produces fantastic sound, uncovering sounds I have never heard before in well known music. Great for techno, trance, drum 'n' bass, and of course heavy grungy rock!
Features
Does the job, swizel earpiece design messy, fiddly, cumbersome. Speakers are awesome
Quality
Good quality, I damaged on of the earpiece swivels so that it wouldnt hold properly.
Value
Best I could find for the price by far, the cheaper ones were all total crap!!!
Manufacturer Support
Sony replaced under warranty, 6 months from purchase date, no questions asked, due to damaged earpiece swivel.
The Wow Factor
They are big headphones, they attract attention if you wear them in public (MD in pocket powers them surprisingly well) hope the I have sex appeal even when I can't hear anymore, won't be long before I'm deaf!! (did you say something?!!?!?! speak up, I can't hear you, but i see your lips moving!!)
