There is much hype about this bass. The one I received was much less than the hype. It is a beautiful bass to be sure with a lot of features...if they work. First off the neck on this bass is much wider than it needs to be. MINE HAD 5 HIGH FRETS and buzzed everywhere. The string height had been adjusted too high in an attempt to hide those high frets. I will not have a bass fret leveled at this price point. Secondly the actives were horrible on the one I received. Any attempt to move the blend control past the center detente towards the P pickup gave instant distortion. Likewise the active bass control. Any attempt to move it past the center detente to give more bass gave me instant distortion. If I touched the blend control at all it cuts out crackles or squeals so something definitely done poorly there. The stacked knobs are way too high and I figure eventually they will get knocked and broken. I do not like the lower bout input jack position either. They are hard to find on a gig. Overall this has put me off of the Sire brand. zZounds just ships their guitars and basses from a warehouse. There is no attempt to check anything before they send it and this is the third bass guitar in a row I have had to send back with things NOT working. zZounds needs to address this or they will just keep paying for return shipping. After all the hype this was a HUGE disappointment!
