I would imagine that this will be a part of my gear collection forever. One can always use more mics, and a good one is always welcome.
Sound
Has a very good sound. Not quite neutral, but not a highly colored mic either. I give it an 8 because I don't want to make the $5000 mics out there jealous!
Features
This is a very professional looking package. Nice locking aluminum case (but it scratches if you look at it funny...be aware). Comes with a very nice shockmount as well. 3 Patterns and a pad and rolloff switch....really nice.
Quality
Feels very solid. Comes with a nice feature set. Nice case, all accessories.....right down to the velveteen bag to give it that extra touch of class. Granted, all the extras in the world wouldn't make me buy the mic if the sound sucked.....this mic doesn't suck. Not by a longshot.
Value
It's expensive....but, if you can swing it...you won't be disappointed. No mic is perfect on every application...but this one is pretty good on most.
Manufacturer Support
I haven't had to use any support.
The Wow Factor
I rated this as a 10 because I MORE than want it...I OWN it.

Id compare this mic to a u87. Close hit
Sound
Has its own color not too far fromm neutral.
Features
Best shockmount on the market! Others take note.Mic has many exelent settings,For elemanating unwanted bass rumble.Well made like a truck!
Ease of Use
Just about everything Ive recorded on. protools has come out perfectly clear,As good or better than my u87.
Quality
Like I said ,Shure tests these things to hold up on the road.Ive had my sm58s for 20years.The 44 is almost as tough But you should care a little more about an 800 dallor condensor.
Value
For 800bucks Its clearer than most, less expensive than some of those hyped german mics.If I dont love a mic Ill get rid of it.This one is a keeper
Manufacturer Support
Shures got the best support out there.Used them once very helpful.
The Wow Factor
I use an arsonal of about 15 mics neumann to at4033,4047.4060.Babyblue,blue bird.I can say might trade them all someday ,but Ill keep my ksm44 for shure !!!

"Awesome."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I plan to use it on every recording project I do in the future, and I wish I had it on every project I've done in the past.
Sound
by far the best mic I've ever used for recording in pretty much any application from vocals, to guitars, to kick drums, and even as and overhead of a choir.
Features
I would have liked to see a variable db cut in stead of just -15. a -10 would have been nice.
Quality
Well, I can't actually say that I've kicked it or dropped it, but its a pretty solid mic and definatly strong enough to go on tour with.
Value
It's alot of money....but definatly worth it.
Manufacturer Support
In the past Shure has been helpful, I havn't had any problems with this mic but Shure has quickly responded to all my questions with intuitive answers.
The Wow Factor
Its the real deal.
