"Good violin, with a bit of work needed"

I tend to agree with some of the other reviewers... the violin itself is pretty well-made. The bridge needs a bit of work, or replacing though. It isn't rounded enough, so you don't have much leeway in playing one string without hitting another one. Personally, I don't see much problem with the bow or rosin. The bow isn't spectacular, but it is useable. You do need to "scratch" the rosin a bit before it will come off onto the bowstrings though. Most rosin is that way. The case is nice for what it is... a soft case that is covered foam (I'm assuming). This instrument isn't intended for professional violinists, so I think it is a pretty good deal for what it is worth. The headphones are not part of the "worth"... they are pretty bad. Bring your own. :) By the way, the electronics seem to be pretty good. I plugged it up to an amp, and the tone was good. It sounded like a miked violin, instead of a muddy guitar. LOL

The violin has a great feel in the hands and looks great. The 1\4 inch jack is awesome since you never have to keep up with special cables or adapters. The preamp works well and is very convenient on top (instead of on the bottom). The power is connected to the 1\4 inch jack so when it's unplugged, it's off. No more forgetting to turn a switch off and eating up batteries.
Sound
Sound depends mostly on your amp but the clean output is good amd you have a bass & mid eq control built in.
Features
Pros: standard 1\4 inch jack, automatic on and off, preamp with eq.
Ease of Use
Very comfortable, controls are in great location.
Quality
Seems to be built very well. Feels good.
Value
Well worth the price.
The Wow Factor
I don't know that there is a wow but there are no disappointments either.

"Good Electric Violin "

I have been playing violin for 20 years. I recently decided to try out an electric and I wasn't sure which one to get. This is a well made solid violin. The pegs turn easy and it stays in tune. I was impressed with the craftsmanship. The sound quality is good. I would say this would be a great first electric violin, and it's better than some of the cheap brands out there. The bow is not great quality, so I used the fiberglass bow I had. It comes with light rosin, however I recommend buying dark rosin. The headphones it comes with are decent. The case is basic but decent quality. The only con is I think it is rather heavy. My neck hurts from playing it after about an hour. My next one will be lighter.

"Great little violin but needs better strings and bow"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I have played instruments now for 70 years and picked up the violin again. This violin was recommended by a professional as a great budget instrument. I know is the best budget purchase you can make and from other pro's the next step would be the Yamaha costing about £700.00 You need to get a good shoulder rest (get a wolf standard) otherwise it can easily slip off the chin, best strings for it D’Addario Prelude. Buy a good bow and you're set up
Sound
The sound is the best budget violin around, with the equaliser you can create the type you require
Features
The style of music is greater than any acoustic violin much more versatile it's a little heavy and hard to keep under the chin
Ease of Use
So easy to get sounds, I use a Roland 15watt cube and this creates so much scope to enjoy different settings. I even put it through a Roland 80watt keyboard amp, but for this instrument you can easily get away with a small practise amp
Quality
Very well made and solid, the finish is really professional. Mine is now 4 years old whether they have yet corrected the alignment of the bridge to the finger board yet I would be interested to find out
Value
Well worth the price, Seen them advertised for as little as £149.95
Manufacturer Support
Purchased from an independent source
The Wow Factor
I love the look and it sitting there in my studio

Musical Background:

"Violin itself is great... everything else is kind of terrible."

I'm new to violins and bought this as for a first/ practice unit. The bow is pretty bad, but it works... I would replace the hair on it at the very least. The rosin is a little tough (I bought some lighter stuff). Upon tuning the violin the first time, the bridge broke... and the second time (After I replaced the bridge), the strings broke. It also does not come with a shoulder rest and it's a pain to get a shoulder rest to fit on it correctly because of its shape. The headphones are pretty terrible, but that's a very minor detail.
Sound
It sounds great once you replace all the crap add ons...
Features
I love the pick up on this violin, the EQ and Vol adjustments are a bonus.
Quality
You need to buy some new strings, replace the bow/bow hairs, get another bridge and some peg drops. Beyond that this thing is great.
Value
I feel like I got a little ripped off considering the parts I need to replace in order for it to function...
Manufacturer Support
have not contacted support yet.
The Wow Factor
This thing looks amazing. Very unique looking and has a great deep black color.

The bow is crap and so is the bow along with the rosin and the violin strings...The violin itself is not bad considering the price. One problem that I noticed was that the bridge is a bit flat, which cause me to brush against the other strings as I played. The bridge is also a bit high, which made it hard to play as I moved up positions, but nothing a little sanding wont fix. Also the battery is a nuisance, but overall i consider it a pretty good product.
