I have been using this microphone for over 40 years of my career. Great dual element effective and trustworthy. I owned one back in the late seventies that got blown over on a stand during a field recording. The crash ruined the high end element and broke the plastic clip ( which , at the tune of $40 is a POS still without improvement to this day) enter this $60 suspension clip. It's value is good, but still without refinement. To make this unit (I bought two ) fully functional it needs a pivot accessory most likely the STAGE style swivel head like used for cameras and cigarette pack recorders. So I intend on adapting mine. So, I guess what I am saying is that the Sennheiser is electronically a very good investment...to bad that in over 40 years time that their ergo dynamics, facility and mechanical design leaves so much to be desired no matter what they charge. This sled " is what it is" functional to a degree and it fits the md421 , one of a kind.
