Sennheiser is known for their quality microphones and this one is no exception. Has a great build and very solid. The mounting hardware makes it easy to place this very compact 904 in the right place and out of harm's way. The sound is natural and uncolored leaving you the freedom to sculpt it anyway you want. It reproduces what the drum sounds like perfectly and that works for me. I use them on the drum kit but it would work on percusion, horns and guitar cabinets equally well. Excellent mic for the money and worth getting over the 604 IMO. The build quality of the 904 alone. I own 3 and looking into another 2 to use on percussion. Have 906's and 609's for the guitar cabinets. You cannot go wrong with the 904 in your microphone locker.

I had some of the e604's, and purchased some of these to supplement my inventory. Very solid mics, they have a great sound to them. I don't think I'll ever need to buy a different tom mic, the e904's are my new workhorse tom mic's!

I upgraded my snare to a Ludwig Supraphonic Black Beauty so I decided to upgrade the mic for it too, we installed a Sennheiser e904 Mic and it sounds very very great! crisp, detailed and with a nice snap to it! will make for very great recordings!
