I purchased this pickup to replace the stock one in my Sterling Ray4 Sub Bass which sounded OK before.But now...WOWI highly recommend this pickup if you are going to use your Ray4 for gigging.You and your band mates will be very happy.The bottom is very punchy and clean,The mids are smooth, and the treble rings through clear.You figure $300. For the bass and $100. For The pickup both through zZounds plus the cost of my friend who installed it.For less than $500. I have a Bass that holds its own day in and day out.I bought the bass and pickup both on zZounds payment plan so that made it much easier for a working stiff like me to have quality gear without having to go broke.

We have a 1996 Korean Epiphone RockBass parts-caster that's been around forever in the rehearsal room, so we decided to switch out the Jazz body for a Made In Korea Hondo P-bass body with a small humbucker in the bridge position,split coil in neck postion. We did a small amount of routing to the Hondo body (found out it was solid,not laminated), then added the SMB4D. Wired as full humbucker with the stock split-coils in the neck postion,with 3 volume pots,1 tone. The SMB4D changed that old Korean solid body import into something I never imagined. It kept sounding awesome,no matter what we plugged it into. We layed down some bass track running direct into an RME Babyface Pro,duplicated a precorded track using a USA Fender Precision. Wow,and double wow...the tonal harmonics, all the needed mojo for great bass tracks are in this Music Man replacement pup from Seymour Duncan. It shines played through high $ player's amps...it's the real deal tone-junkie pup. Very happy with this purchase.

One of the smoothest bass pups created. Tone is full spectrum and covers a lot of ground wired straight with one volume,one tone. Mixed with a set of stock neck pups, MIK split-coil P bass, the SMB4D will blend to create ANY bass tone/sound. Installed in a P-bass w/humbucker in the bridge setup( 3 vol/1 tone). Amazing bass pickup, sounds good in any solid body bass. zZounds has it going on.
