"This is the ultimate metal guitar"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
If you're looking for the ultimate modern metal guitar this is the beast to get. The sound is unbelievable it made my ltd ec 1000 sound like child's play after I hooked it up. The emgs r crisp even on full blown distortion making sweeping crisp and the 2 volume knows give ya a optional kills witch if you insist on using one. The locking tuners making tuning a breeze no matter what. And the neck is the best feeling neck you will ever use makes all those big time name guitar company put in shame. I used Gibsons fenders Jacksons ltd Ibanez. If you love playing anything this guitar will deliver. Don't hesitate buy one!

I'll start by saying this guitar looks 5000x better in person (ultra violet model) than in the pics, it has the highest gloss finish of all my guitars and the color change effect the paint has is so cool that you will catch yourself just staring at it randomly. I play a Dean, Jackson, and schecter all with emgs and this particular shecter has a whole different feel than then platinum and normal hellraiser series, literally feels like a mix of the best of many different feels of many different high end guitars. Really blows my others out of the water Overall I was surprised with the quality of this guitar and the pickups (which sound exactly as they are described) they bring all the power of 81/85s with the clarity of humbuckers or some single coils no joke I'd say it feels in your hand like a mix of a PRS and a slim Jackson , and I mean the Best qualities those 2 bring to the table

This thing all around is just amazing and delivers a feel and playability of which I have rarely come across sub $3000. Its crystal clear tone on a clean channel are just unexpected and amazing. Distorted it is so loud and pronounced. You can FLY on the frets and I enjoy the glow in the dark side marker touch. Then, there is the finish which I chose the Ultra Violet. By far the most beautiful and unique color I've ever seen. It can be black, blue, purple, pink, green, copper or a mix all at once. Add that with the metallic sparkles, and it is just flat out mesmerizing. Also, to my surprise, it is the first guitar I have ever pulled out of the packaging and it is in perfect tune. Those unaware of what locking tuners do, this is NOT because of the locking tuners, but directly associated with the set up, and bridge. The locking tuners just allow for quick restrings and a more appealing head. So to have it in perfect tune with no locking neck or FR bridge, is just amazing. Anyone on the edge needs to pull the trigger. It is a dream guitar for me.

"Very Good Guitar"

This guitar is put together quite well. I recieved mine today. It was set up almost perfect for me. No buzz, no crazy string height or the bridge being cocked to one side. I would put it up against any guitar for quality craftmanship. There are no neck issues.
Sound
This comes with EMG's which is one reason why I purchased this. It sounds good going through my Engl. Very touch sensitive and very easy to get pinched harmonics.
Features
This is not a 2500.00 guitar so I know that all components are not top of the line. For the price(900.00) you get your monies worth. This guitar is put together very well, all components are tight, nothing loose or wobbly.
Ease of Use
This is very easy to play. The neck on this is the other reason I purchased this. Smooth and fast. If you have a decent rig, it is very easy to get a good sound with this guitar.
Quality
This guitar is made quite well. I will use it in ' Live' situations. Everything is tight and solid.
Value
This guitar's price point is very good.
Manufacturer Support
I have not dealt with manufacturer.
The Wow Factor
I like the way it looks. The carbon fiber binding is a nice added touch. I haven't any other guitar with it yet. I'm sure all the others will copy Schecter though.

This is my first Schecter. As the current owner of Fenders, an EBMM Dargie and an Ibanez, I was blown away by the playability of this guitar. The neck is truly stellar - smooth and playable from the box. No setup required in my case. The way the bridge allows me to rest my picking hand allows for some pretty slick shredding, and the pickups sound great. zZounds was great to work with as well. This purchase was a no brainer. If you're on the fence - dont be. Grab one, folks.

As a novice player this is a great guitar, love the thin neck, I got small hands, the emgs 5766 is a very unique pickup set can be daunting task dialing in an eq for these but overall these share passive and active elements but well built guitar can play any genre but I play mostly progressive metal and its good for that, these are alnico based which I like,

I originally wanted the Ultra-Violet, but found out through Schecter that it was discontinued. I was a little disappointed at first, but then the Transparent Black Burst really started calling my name.I am very very very VERY glad I got this guitar. I haven't owned an electric for about 9 or 10 years now, and I have been playing very little. As soon as I opened this thing, I could tell it was high quality - literally the best guitar I've ever owned. My main guitar previously was an ESP LTD 750 gold top les paul style -- Very heavy to play on, but was super comfortable for me. I owned two Ibanez guitars as well at one point - one was an RG350EX if I remember correctly that I upgraded to EMG 81/85 - so I had previously had a guitar that was a C shape neck with jumbo frets and had EMG pickups. This thing is absolutely great! I saw no blemishes what-so-ever on any part of the body, neck, etc. After I broke the strings in a bit, it now stays in tune very well.. only need minor adjustments honestly, and it's so subtle to me that it doesn't bother me to pick it up and play for 5-10 minutes unplugged before work etc. I've had guitars that go out of tune really bad and sound terrible even unplugged. The EMG 66/57 combo is actually really nice. The bridge pickup has some nice bite to it for using gain/dirty channels with a touch of that active 81/85 style energy; so overall it's much more balanced. I get some really good clean tone out of my Orange Crush 35RT with a little reverb on, and the pickups definitely allow a nice low distortion crunch on the dirty channel if you're looking for that; like a Beatles or Classic Rock type of feel. This guitar ended up being very well intonated out of the box. The action is pretty great up until the higher up frets, but is definitely set up to have lower action on the high strings versus the low strings to avoid buzzing. I do a have a small amount of buzz on the low E around 6-9th fret area, but I believe that I need to potentially dial in the string height/potential truss rod adjustment. My neck is pretty much closer to straight with a slight bit of upbow to it without me making any truss adjustments. Honestly, it doesn't seem too bad at all for my personal tastes, I may try to add a slight bit of relief soon but don't have the tools currently and I am not really having any issues with this thing! The fretboard feels very fast, and the neck is super smooth.. I'm not getting caught up at all on it - REALLY like the finish on this neck and the feel of the fretboard. Super nice access to the higher frets with the cutaways, and the higher frets sound really good too - no buzzing or intonation issues (I've played some badly intonated guitars that the higher frets sound really bad on) I just tonight tried out the glow-in-the-dark side inlay dots, and they are actually pretty awesome! I played with the lights out completely and was able to shred on this thing just by using the inlays-- it's actually interesting when you aren't able to see the fretboard other than using the dots, a good test of your muscle memory for sure! So, overall, I love this thing. I've been playing every single day since I got it, and this thing makes me want to pick it up and play. The more I get used to it, the faster I feel my hands are getting on it as well. I've played a Gibson SG and Les Paul before, I've played a Fender Tele and Fender Strat, a few Ibanez guitars.. this is the best feeling I've ever played.. especially if you are thinking about playing metal/playing fast!

I own the hellraiser fr as well. Shecter is absolutely excellent craftsman ship. They get the frets perfect! Set up out of the box is great. Only had to raise pickups a little bit. Schecter,Dean, and Gibson. Only way to get perfect playability!

"Very good guitar but some cheap parts"

This is actually a really good guitar. If you are into active pickups the EMGS are greatloud and powerful sounding, cant say they were entirely my thing as I'm more intothat George Lynch tone, and more classic metal/hard rock tones. The neck is greatthe locking tuners are great. The reason I gave this 4 stars is the screws on the bridgeadjustment begin to strip out the first time I adjusted it, like they are cheap pot metal. That is inexcusable at this price point considering all these companies keep raising prices with inflation as the excuse. I returned it as I decided to get a Charvel USA. But it would have been a five star guitar if it weren't for that issue, it seems reading reviews Schecter has some quality control issues that pop up alot. And at 4$00 that might be understandable but not at $1100. They could be a great guitar manufacturer but they need to fix some these random things that mess up an otherwise really good shred guitar

"Looks aren't everything"

TLDR: I had the same grounding, shielding, wiring, and/or electronic problem with two different examples of this guitar from two different stores. Whatever the issue is results in A LOT of noise when connected to a high gain amp.If nothing else, this guitar looks the part. The whole thing is cohesive in its metal aesthetic. The hardware is nice and seems completely functional from the locking tuners to the bridge. It feels nice to hold and play and gives off a strong resonance when played. It sounds great even unplugged. I found I didn't particularly care for the compound radius fretboard or the TOM bridge, though. The first one I got from zZounds was flawless in its appearance aside from a loose volume control knob, but the second had minor scratches and bubbles or debris in the paint, paint missing altogether around one of the pickups, and a cut in the binding. However the second one, which came from a different store since zZounds had them on backorder, was set up better in terms of bridge height and neck relief, but I never even got around to tuning it up and checking the intonation because of the noise/hum/buzz.The reason I pretty much plugged this second guitar in and then put it right back in the box is that, like the first one, there is a serious issue with how much noise is picked up from the amp by the humbuckers. It's immediately obvious on an overdrive channel and fades in an out slightly depending on the relation of the guitar to the amp. It's loud, obnoxious, and doesn't go away when touching the strings or knobs. It can easily be heard even while playing power chords. At first I didn't realize it was the guitar. I tried three different amps, three different cables, a Hum X, sine wave power supply, two different locations and compared it to three other guitars. It was the only one that generated a noise like this, like a set of passives but much louder and doesn't seem to depend on the distance from the amp. It just as bad ten feet away as it is right next to the amp. This second time around I called Schecter and the guy I talked to couldn't have cared less about this. Of course he said he hasn't heard anything about this problem in these guitars and that I should just return it. As an aside he also tried to tell me that active pickups are noisier than passives, so that right there makes me never want to try another guitar from Schecter. The tech I talked to from the other store thought it was probably down to poor shielding because Schecter sometimes leaves something to be desired in that respect. I was under the impression that humbuckers, especially active ones, don't require shielding, but whatever the case these two guitars shouldn't have passed inspection before leaving the factory. I don't mind setting up a new guitar, but there's no way I'd settle for anything less than functional perfection out of a guitar on which I just spent over $1100. Instead I went with a used Ibanez RG631ALF that originally retailed for $1000 and it's as quiet as a church mouse. I also prefer the fretboard radius and find the tremolo-like fixed bridge much more comfortable. Yeah, I had to adjust the bridge for string height and intonation, I had to adjust the truss rod and pickup height, it needs a new nut (which I would've replaced anyway), and it already has a ding in the body and minor scratches in the paint, but overall I'm much happier with it and would suggest that anyone considering a Schecter try an Ibanez Axion Label or an ESP LTD before pulling the trigger. Here's a video demonstrating the problem:https://youtube.com/shorts/YLbFCvTWh9Y?feature=share
