"The C1 by Shecter is a great buy. I would recommend people looking for something in this price range to definitely check out"

I'll supplement it with a FR model, my next electric is likely to be a Shecter C1 with the Floyd Rose. (Although I'm really liking the ESP/LTD guitars in the $700-$1000 price range)
Sound
The tones you get with SD JB/59 pups are amazing, Ive been playing through a pvy 5150BL and a Epiphone Valve Sr. both sound amazing with this guitar. This guitar has sustain for days, and great natural and artifical harmonics, somewhat better harmonics and much better sustain than my IbnzS470. The tone is better to me too, much better separation. (not dissing the 470 I love it too, it is a great guitar for the price and has good harmonics and sustain too just not as good as the C1, I guess it's not really a fair comparison since I have the sucky stock INF pups in the 470. I'm really thinking of selling my 470 and getting a C1-blackjack-FR)
Features
with the set-neck and through-body strings. 11-lbs. mahagony body, maple neck. TonePros Bridge makes adjusting action and setting intonation really easy. The locking tuners are awesome, so easy to change strings. If my next electric does not come with locking tuners, I will definitely upgrade to them. I love this feature. PuPs Seymour Duncan JB/59's decent for this price range, TapCoil for splitting the humbuckers to single-coil. 3way switch, bridge postion, dual, and neck postion. (Would rather have the output jack on top of the body like the ibnz470, it's on the side/bottom for the C1)
Ease of Use
Super easy, no tremolo so setup is a breeze most players can probably do most of the setup themselves. It was setup perfectly right out of the box, it was even in tune!
Quality
This is definitely built with the working musician in mind, it's built like a tank. Almost all the customer reviews you read talk about how well the C1's are made and how tough they are.
Value
When I made this purchase the vaule was incredible. (The price on Shecter's has gone up a bit, a few hundred dollars in some cases, even at around $700-$900 it's still a good value. The new C1's under $600 now seem like they have the "Duncan Designed pups" and bolt on necks. You can still find some of the older style C1's out there for $600.00 or less.)
Manufacturer Support
I lost the back to one of my locking tuners, Shecter sent me a whole set of 6 with no questions asked really. They asked when and where I made the purchase but besides that they did not verify anything else except my address and stuff. Was a really easy process, except for having to wait for the mail, took about 5 days but that was not their fault.
The Wow Factor
I love the deep black paint and contoured top the Ace of Spades inlay at the 12th fret is cool too.

I just reviewed this guitar, but I made a mistake it doesn't have a maple top, only the neck is maple, but contrary to the caption on the site, not all models of this guitar have a push pull pot most have a 5 way switch. The body is all mahogany, which is why it has such a dark warm tone and also why it is so light.

"This is the reason I play Schecter guitars!!!"

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
For heavy rock this is the perfect guitar!!! There isnt anything wrong with it. Some have said that the tone pot limits the amount of highs you can get, but that also gives you more flexibility with the eq'ing of your amp because you wont have to crank your lows and cut your mids to get a nice crunchy low end tone. If you like butt rock shreddy type metal you might want to stick with something else, but for another quality guitar with these features you'll look at paying alot more. If it wasnt for this guitar I wouldve spent almost 3 times at much on a new amp, but now I love the crunch I get out of my rig, and I no longer need to gate it as heavily because this pickups are incredibly easy to control.
Sound
I plugged this into my Peavey Triple XXX, which previous I hated, and I fell in love. I already had an Ibanez with JB in it but its really harsh sounding. This Blackjack however is perfect (it might be a lil too bottom heavy for some) The 59 at the neck is the smoothest pick up i've ever heard. I play straight up metalcore and even I am now finding myself learning "clean" songs just to make use of this beauitful sounding pick up. I also have an Omen 6 that I installed some Gibson 57 classics into and I think the 59 gets the same clean sound that they do, maybe even a little more detailed. The sustain is also amazing. This is the perfect heavy rock guitar well worth the price. I you play metal, hardcore, metalcore andthing heavy and you find yourself deciding between this and the equally priced C1+ go with this one. Softer genres may find the C1+ sufficient, but for all things heavy this guitar is it!
Features
Mahogany Body, Maple Top, Set neck, Grover tuners, Seymour Duncan pickups, Solid finish (i've already bumped it a few times and thus far no dings) Im giving this a 7 only because the there's only one volume control and tone control for both pickups. The 5 way switch is nice, no matter what style you play, you'll find yourself finding ways to make use of each switch position. The most amazing thing though is how incredibly light this thing is! I also have an Ibanez sz320 and I thought it was light this thing is a lil bigger but it's noticeably lighter. This makes it so comfortable to play, but be forewarned if you ever go from this to a Les Paul you're in for a shock lol.
Quality
My Omen 6 pretty much chips with the slightest lil bump, but the blackjack hasnt at all. I play in a hardcore band and I'm usually the one that does the most moving around on stage. When I put on my strap locks they screwed in very solidly and I'm not at all worried about them. The finish on the neck is like butter and plays incredibly smoothly. This guitar has reaffirmed my decision to stick with Schecter guitars. For the price this guitar is amazing I would've easily expected to have paid upwards of $700 for it.
Value
I got mine for $525 out the door. Honestly the Sz model Ibanez guitars retail at around 379, but you'll have to change out the cheap pickups and due to the wiring you'll be limited to in your selection, unless you change the pots also. The blackjack C1 however will give you unlimited options with pickups. I originally intended on dropping in some burstbuckers, but the stock pickups blew me away. Overall the tone, playability, flexibility, and reliability of this guitar make it the easy choice for a higher end guitar at a mid range price. Make no mistake, given that this guitar comes with two of the most acclaimed pickups ever made and its basic construction it the same as a Les Paul or PRS, You cannot go wrong with this guitar.
Manufacturer Support
I havent had to talk to them and I doubt I will because it's a guitar.
The Wow Factor
HaHa I cant believe this is a category, I do have to say thought that the finish on this guitar is sweet and the black hardware gives it a nice level of added darkness with out being to bland. As for sex appeal I dunno Im not playing again til next month.
