"Cutlass over Squire all day long"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

The mighty Stratocaster. One of the guitars I knew I must have in my fledgling collection of guitars and gear that I had started to build earlier this year. When I started teaching myself everything about guitars, I immediately figured out that I was more of a single cutaway kind of guy. Loved the Les Paul. So I have a few Epiphones. Discovered PRS. I can’t afford anything other than SEs. So I got three different ones. But I still need so many more. And I definitely need a Stratocaster. So I can’t really justify buying a Fender immediately. So I got a Squire. I do like to play the Squire Stratocaster. But it doesn’t feel like my PRS 245 or my Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy. And it’s got a maple neck which definitely isn’t my favorite. I like the ebony or the rosewood fingerboards. So I start to consider getting a nicer Squire. But the most expensive Squire is can find isn’t much nicer than the one I already have. So I look at the Fenders and I still can’t see paying that much for a type of guitar that isn’t my favorite shape. Then I came across this Cutlass. And it checked all the boxes when it come to fretboard and price and even has locking tuners!!!! I got it today and it feels almost perfect. It arrived close to in tune with nice action height. The color looked cool and it felt like a premium guitar in my hands. And the price??? Unbelievable. Now I can’t believe Squire will sell many more Stratocasters with the Sterling Cutlass on the market. It’s superior in every way. Thanks again to zZounds for being my enabler. I’ll see you again soon!!!

The Sterling by Music Man 50 series is a cut above the usual fare. Different than Fender Squier, different than Gibson Epiphone, it is rooted in the tradition of Fenders guitars, because Music Man was cofounded by Leo Fender. The guitars have his mark and Sterling has surely arrived, thanks to the new 50 Series. In this model you have a deluxe strat style guitar with a feel and sound and appearence of everything great about strats without the higher price. Sweet!

This axe has a multitude of tonal colors. The action was lower than any guitar I have bought, which is saying something: you can start playing your guitar instead of working on it. I'm not mincing words. This is a special instrument. Sound, looks, feel. Also, it looks better than the website; it's like a dark wine sunburst. Very cool. I have only superlatives to offer, not one negative comment. Not this guitar. The Cutlass has been lauded by youtubers and magazines alike. You might not find a better guitar under $1200.
