"The best purchase I've made!!!"

I NEVER leave product reviews... I always read them before I make any purchase, but this time I feel that a review is my duty to my fellow drummers out there looking for THE cymbal. I have been playing drums for nearly 25 years. I've toured all over the US. I've had endorsements through several great companies throughout my career. I have done and still do a lot of studio work in world renowned studios. I currently play as a session drummer in the Houston area and also play for one of the largest churches in the country. I'm not at all trying to brag, I'm simply qualifying myself as a drummer who knows drums and knows what sounds good and what doesn't... Here's the deal... This cymbal (Omni 22") is literally THE best cymbal I have ever played hands down. I have actually taken this cymbal to quite a few smaller gigs and used only this cymbal and hi hats and didn't miss my other cymbals at all. It is litteraly the perfect ride and the perfect crash. I've used it for pop/rock/country/gospel/... It always works and fits in perfectly. It is never overpowering and the sound guys and producers always say "where in the hell did you find that cymbal!!). I hit it and it makes me smile. The bell is cutting, but not too bright, the center has a dark, jazzy ride feel with amazing stick definition, the edge is trashy, yet beautiful. I could literally go on and on about this thing, Most crash/rides end up being horrible at both... This isn't your ordinary crash/ride. It's just an awesome freaking cymbal. Sabian and JoJo definitely struck gold with this one! I now own two of these and if they break, I will order another one immediately! Each cymbal differs a bit. One of my Omni's is a bit heavier, and is a bit brighter than the other. However, they are both brilliantly designed instruments! I'm not anyone to please go out and buy this cymbal, BUT I am saying this is has literally changed my playing for the better. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT 1000%!!! I wanted to leave 20 stars for the wow factor :)

"2-in-1...The Sabian Omni is a versatile option."

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Sound
Pretty amazing. I have the 18" version and find it to be very versatile. I prefer a stripped down setup and this cymbal pulls double duty working well as both a ride and a crash. I'm considering the 22" version but may elect to simply purchase a good crash cymbal to complement this one. Well worth the investment in my opinion.
Features
Very versatile.
Ease of Use
Straightforward. I didn't have to adjust my playing style to accommodate this new cymbal.
Value
You are really getting two cymbals in one, so I feel that it's a pretty good price.
The Wow Factor
I find it very appealing.

"Sabian AAX Omni Cymbal 22 inch"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I have been playing on a Zildjian 20 inch ride for a while now but always wanted a ride with less overtones, a higher clink on the bell and a more jazzy and smooth inner cymbal sound. I also was looking for low sound crash. I got the opportunity to play on an AAX Omni at the local jazz club and really liked the sound. The bell has a higher and tighter sound that I was looking for, the inner ring a nice jazzy smooth clink with nice easy overtones. The outer thinner edge has a very nice crash/splash. It is for me three cymbals in one. So I ordered one from Zzounds. It was delivered in a reasonable time and it has taken the place of my Zildjian ride. I still use my Zildjian ride. The Omni has a great ride/crash that compliments my other cymbals. There was a scratch in the top of the bell when I opened the package and I almost sent it back, but it doesn't affect the sound, it is more of a blemish so I have gotten use to it.

Although Listed As a Crash/Ride, I Only Use the Omni as a Crash, And The Crisp Cut It has Is Unmatched, And Tone Has That Sizzle to it .This Cymbal Is Perfect for the Metal Drummer's who Like That Fast Attack.

Sounds Awesome! it it isnt dark but its not too bright either for me its perfect. The bell is nice and loud and the crash part is very nice, If you ride on the crash section you get that washing sound and riding it on the middle section you get some ping but not too loud. And it is way cheaper than the HHX OMNI BUT if you like darker sounding crashes than i would recommend you the hhx but IF you can test them both before buying just to be sure!! Luckily i got to try it out at Sam ash but i bought it here because zZounds does payment plans!! From now on I'm only buying HERE!!!

"A Truly Multi-Application Cymbal"

If you are like me, I like to get as much bang for my buck as I can. I try to use a reasonably small kit that can multi-functionality. For these reasons, I am over the moon about the Sabian OMNI cymbals. These are truly unique, one-of-a-kind cymbals. The best element of crashes and rides in one. The crashes are full and bright with the rides washy and warm. I pair my set (both the 18" and 22") with a set of 14" AAX Freq Hats which have a very controlled sound that nicely juxtaposes the wash and spread of the ONMI's. This is further contrasted with my darker Yamaha birch drums. Together, it all gives me the sound I want and without having to have a half a dozen cymbals around me to do it. Well worth the money in my book, you should check them out for yourself.
