I LOVE THIS BOARD!!!! yes it took some learning, but I think that if I can do it anyone could. I now have my very first CD, recorded, mixed, and mastered, and it sounds great! thank you Roland. only complaint is the manual. it just seems they have put it in a more logical order. then again I knew nothing about recording when I started.this recorder does it all, and it will download your tracks in formats that can be used by pro tools or any other music program for further mixing. and oh yeah I'm doing recordings for other people too and building up eqipment store by trading for fancy mics, processers and cash to!!!

"Roland is crazy good stuff"
If you're on a budget, get the 2000, if you can spring for it, get the 2480, these systems kick.
Sound
Roland Rocks
Features
Tons of modeling, sound is awesome.
Ease of Use
Easy to use if you can take the time to read the manual first. Best unit out there except for the 2480
Quality
Tough, never had an issue yet
Value
Just try to find a better deal, except for the 2480. A computer setup that equals what this can do would cost more and give you way way way way way more headaches.
Manufacturer Support
Perfect, always willing to help and never put on hold yet
The Wow Factor
No only is it awesome, it's also sexy

Bang for the buck seems pretty good
The Wow Factor

"Customer Service? What customer service???"
Verified Customer

No matter how good, how sexy, how impressive this product is, and it is, a genuine lack of customer service from Roland brings this number waaay down. Wherther I gave is a 1 or a 10, I will not buy a Roland product in the future unless I see changes in their support of people who buy their product.
Manufacturer Support
First, the rebate program doesnt deliver. I never received the free vga monitor even though I did everything axactly as instructed. Trying to contact Roland to solve this issue was like trying contact the CIA. Just go to the Roland website and try to find an "email us" or "contact us" button or even a telephone number. You wont. That really pisses me off. I spent over $2300 for this recorder and I cant contact the company to find out why I havent received my "free" monitor valued at $400. I got sick of waiting and went out and bought one. Roland customer service is non-existant. Despite the fact that I like the product, Roland is no longer a company I would purchase from. I learned a lesson and that is to check EVERYTHING about a company before you buy ANYTHING. There are several companies who make 24 track recorders and maybe some of them know what "customer service" really means to a customer, especially support after the purchase. If you intend to buy a Roland product, check this out for yourself before proceeding. Wish I had.
The Wow Factor
I wanted it with the monitor. That's why I bought it. Because of this "sex appeal" is greatly reduced. Had I gotten the monitor as I should have, the sex appeal would be 9.5-10

"NEEDS BETTER PREAMPS AND A TO D'S TO BE A TRUE 24 BIT SOUNDING MACHINE."
Sound
THESE MIC PRE'S REALLY DON'T SOUND GOOD WITHOUT SOME HELP FROM A GOOD TUBE PREAMP LIKE A BLUE ROBBIE,AVALON 737 OR A BELLARI RP5O3. THE TUBE PRE'S ON
ALL THE ROLAND SERIES DAW'S ARE PRETTY BOTTOM OF THE BARREL,NOT TO MENTION THE A TO D'S ARE ALSO KIND'A CRAPPY. IN LIEU OF THIS, SOME "DECENT" RECORDINGS CAN BE DONE ON THIS UNIT...DON'T EXPECT MIRACLES
Features
HAS SOME DECENT FEATURES LIKE 96KHZ SAMPLE RATE.

Latency, Latency, Latency. If you do not understand that term, you will after buying this.

"VS2400. All you need to record a hi quality CD."
Verified Customer

At the rate technology grows, there is always something "better" right around the corner. The VS2400 has covered it's bases as being a model that will keep up sound and feature wise. I expect this to be the heart of my studio for a long time.
Sound
This machine will reproduce any sound you record very accurately. It is digital so the sound can be a bit sterile, but that is the nature of digital recorders. You can always fatten up the sound by adding some tube mics or tube preamps into the tracks. In comparison to other brands, I think the Roland stands out in its sound quality. 10
Features
With the VS2400 you are not just limited to using it's small screen for info. You can connect any vga monitor and mouse for better viewing and faster working. It is user friendly but like anything it does have a learning curve. Most of the basic recording functions are common sense. If you need help with anything the vsplanet.com website exists, making this the recorder with the best technical support. The hard drive has plenty of room. The effects are good but do need tweaking to personal taste. It would be nice if it came with a USB or SCSI port for computer connection or adding a hard drive.
Quality
The VS2400 is a solid machine. The automated faders are nice. As long as you reformat the Hard Drive every 2-3 months it should run flawless. They suggest every month, so if it feels slow, it may be time to save projects to disc as .wav files to remix at another time. Keep the memory decently clean and it will run forever. You have the ability to record at sample rates from 44.1 to 96. Sound quality is up to you. All sound good to me. Very dependable!
Value
I think that the VS2400 is the best digital studio in this price range. It is very comparable to the VS2480 and about $1000 less. With 8 channel recording at 1 time and great editing and effects this is a great value.
Manufacturer Support
Roland is easy to reach and will help you with any questions regarding technical support. I have had no warranty issues so I'm not sure how the repairs are taken care of.
The Wow Factor
Nice design. Practical layout. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!
