Sound
Great Sampling pad! I DJ and Perform with tracks I have created and this is just what I have been looking for. Up until now, I have been struggling with incorporating a live percussion rig with EDM. I have been using the Roland HPD-10 with my hands while striking Zildjian Gen16 cymbals with sticks, all while performing with EDM. Thank you Roland for making my set so much easier to organize!
Ease of Use
There is a bit of a learning curve on preprograming your sounds and loops into the SPD-SX, however once you have taken care of this, then you are golden!
Value
It isn't cheap, but it is built to last. I will pay for something that doesn't break down during a live set...that's priceless!
Manufacturer Support
Never dealt with Roland support...but that just means that the products work.
The Wow Factor
You Tube some of the vids on the SPD-SX. There's a lot of potential using this.

First of all, zZounds is an excellent company to work with! The first unit I received had some issues (e.g. a dirty electronic noise being produced just prior to the sound when striking a pad) and I was able to exchange it per their policy with zero issues. Note that THIS UNIT DOES NOT HAVE A QUANTIZE FEATURE which is unimaginable. So, if you're looking to create spot-on drum loops, etc., forget it! What's even more frustrating is that the older model (SPD-S) does have that feature. The reason I bought the unit was to trigger samples and create drum loops...so basically 50% of the unit is worthless. A lot of the issues w/ the older model (lack of memory, lack of computer interface, etc.) have been resolved which is nice but it's nothing more (to me) than an overpriced controller at this point due to the abovementioned. I bought the Maschine Mikro MK2 to create drum loops and then load those to the SPD-SX. The Maschine product, worth every penny! The sounds are pretty good but very few when compared to the Octapad, Roland should have stepped-it-up in this area considering the price you're paying. There are a lot of nice new features but the most important piece is now missing, still baffled over this. I would find other options if I had to do it over again. The price, minimal sounds, and lack of quantization are a deal breaker in hindsight.
