"Awesome Quality Monitors"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

Have had these monitors for 18 years and they have not missed a beat. Still sound great! Flat reference and accuracy. Offers speaker and mic modeling when using roland DAW. Although, they were a bit pricey when purchased, they were and still is worth the investment.
Sound
These monitors along with the Roland VS248 are a perfect combination. The warmth and accuracy I love. The monitors are very durable. I now use them with my PreSonus 32SC StudioLive Mixer/Interface and the play back is just absolutely wonderful. This was indeed a great buy!

Musical Background:

Playing music for more than 45 years. Enjoy performing and producing. These monitors have been a bit part of my music career.

Musical Style:

Smooth Jazz, R&B, Contemporary Christian/Gospel. However, I love all musical styles and genre.

"Roland DS-90a sound monitors"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I bought the floor models of these monitors when they originally came out and I have never looked back. Super sturdy, and the sound is clear and if on the warm side- which I personally love. For mixing I start with these and then move to a variety of other speaker systems (including my crappy car stereo) for reference- and I'm usually on the mark. There may be better monitors out there, but in my opinion these are a great buy.

Musical Background:

recording engineer, DJ

Musical Style:

Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, 80s, Reggae, Rock- old school and analogue

"Great monitors that still sound better than current monitors"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I’ve had the DS90s since 2002 and still sound awesome compared to others out there. I was about to replace them with KRK Rokit G4s, but they don’t come close to the quality of sound that comes out. They always had warm and clear sound, and have been solid for over 20 years. Yes, when the way initially released they were on the pricey side. It was worth the investment.

"Roland Quality"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
In a perfect world, I would have the biggest and best monitors money can buy. In THIS world, I have my DS-90As and will probably stick with them for some time.
Sound
They sound great for speakers in this price range. There may be better, there are certainly worse, but the bottom line is these sound pretty darn good.
Features
Both digital (coax and optical) and analog inputs, gain control, hi and lo trim. The digital inputs and excellent Roland DA conversion puts these in a category all by themselves.
Quality
They look like your standard studio monitors. They are well-built and can withstand some abuse (although hopefully they won't have to). They are heavy buggers at over 33 pounds each.
Value
There are other monitors available in this price range that may be bigger or have some other desirable attributes, but none are digital. Considering this, I think these are great values.
The Wow Factor
Again, there are certainly other appealing choices in this price range, but if you really want or need digital monitors, then how could you not want something like this?

"great monitors, great features that are still ahead of their time. Thank you!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
For the price, and the features, this is a great monitor. its is incredibly flat and accurate, a truthful monitor. I have owned a pair of these since they were first introduced, and while i have used others, these have become the pair my ears first turn to.
Features
digital inputs. why is this not yet a standard feature in the digital world? these came long before their time.
Ease of Use
they are flat. would have been nice to have level trim on the front, but not many companies do this.
Quality
7 years, and not a single flaw. ever. they have been through several moves.
Value
you can get these used now for a song, worth every penny. back when they first came out, the price was a bit salty...but digital ins and flat clean response? it was a fair price.
Manufacturer Support
never had a need to call them. no problems yet.
