The SP404 mk2 is a great update to the 404 series. The addition of the OLED screen was genius and really opens up the useability of the 404 series. The pads on it feel great and it's a very fun workflow once you learn it. There's a lot of shortcuts and intricacies to this device, so don't take it at face value when you first start using it. Do your due diligence and watch the Youtube videos and view the Roland docs so you can learn how to properly use it. You'll find that it's a very powerful sampler and groovebox, and that there is a lot you can do musically with this device. Roland has released quite a few updates for it since it first dropped, and they keep adding more and better features to it as time goes along. It is portable and can take 6 AAA batteries to use it on the go. You'll get about 4 hours of use out of that which is about what the MPC Live 2 offers on a full charge. If you want a portable sampler/sequencer, that has great FX and great tools at an affordable price... look no further than the SP 404 mk2.
