I can foresee my grand-kids saying, "let's use grandpas' tester". It should last a lifetime. Now whether the cable protocols do is another question. If it's stolen I'll go straight back to Rolls and get the upgrade if one is available.
Sound
What can I say here; it emits a 1KHz test tone to banana plugs with the aid of a attenuation pot -30 to =7 dB. Sweet! Now I'll go around teh shop and pick up all these "dead" speakers...
Features
Check the list, midi, RJ11, RJ45, XLR-M/F, 1/4 TRS, 1/8 mini, RCA, Speakon, Banana Plug, binding post, LEDs and a test tone. What's left to check?
Ease of Use
Put the battery in the very slick retractable battery carrier close it, plug in and watch the blinking lights!
Quality
When I opened the ZZounds container and saw a beefy Rolls package with: MADE IN THE USA" across I simply grinned, BFG! OK to nit pick (I am a US citizen , that's what we do!) The close tolerance fit between the formed channel case to the opposing formed channel body left little room for error on assembly. There are signs of the awesome black powder coating "chaffing" on assembly. I ain't opening this puppy up just to inspect the soldering! Beautiful!
Value
Worth every dime. I am building a small home studio so the item is virtually indispensable.
Manufacturer Support
I had a suspicious that if I called the factory not only would a human answer the from, speaking proper english, but that they would actually be of assistance. Correct assumption Mr. Watson! These people know their business and understand who pays the bills!
The Wow Factor
It's a black box cable / speaker test unit. Now that's sexy!

""What's wrong with this #$%^%& cable anyway?""

Delivered as advertised. There are less expensive items, but I ahve been a technician all my adult life. Great test equipment can mean hthe difference between great performances and "jury rigged disasters." So in my opinion it is wise to spend the few extra dollars on this piece of equipment made in USA
Sound
When sound signal passes through your speaker cables and you hear it in your speakers or headset...it is great. If you do not...replace or fix it before you go on tour.
Features
Virtually every standard cable connection is provided for as listed in "overview." 9 volt batter in easy access draw means no power cord. Clear pin diagrams on case. Leds show continuity or lack of same. Selector switch has "off" position. MAkes it easier on battery.
Ease of Use
"Plug and Play" All we have to do is mate the proper ends and terminations
Quality
Made of real steel just like all of Rolls products including "phantom power" modules for condensor mics. Separate review.
Value
Yes!
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed it, do not anticipate it either
The Wow Factor
Would be less appealing if I did nto have it and knew it was available

"Great options, but not a very good interface"

I love the available options on this thing. It's also very sturdy. However, the led lights that indicate signal flow flash on and off sequentially rather than staying on all the time. This is useful if you're trying to determine which pin is connected to which pin, but makes it rather hard to test if a cable is fraying or has a compromised pin connection. It would be the perfect tool if it had the option to switch between sequentially flashing and constantly on.
