"Quilter MP 200-8...Awesome!"

I had been reading about this amp for quite some time as I tend to do a lot of research before I buy anything, This amp is simply AMAZING! I have had many amps over the course of my career, solid-state as well as tube, and I can honestly say this amp is one of the best I have ever owned...and at a FRACTION of the weight and foot-print! Its easy to just "grab and go" with this amp, and not have to make any excuses at the gig. In fact, half the fun of this amp is the look on everyone's face when I show up with this little amp...but as soon as I fire it up...they are in awe! And I just have the 8"...just wait til I get the 12" ext cab! I got the 8" because I also play acoustic/electric, as well as Strat, and this is the best amp for that purpose. It also has a direct out, making it easy for the sound man on compact stages.
Sound
The sound quality is simply amazing! Prior to this amp I was lugging around my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and a Fishman Loudbox Performer, and sometimes my POD, and my assorted cables, pedals, etc and two guitars...and my back was KILLING me. The sound was good, but the load-in and load-out was intense, heavy and time consuming, and I took up quite a bit of real-estate onstage. For the smaller gigs I was always making some sort of sacrifice. Now, with the Quilter, it has solved ALL my issues! And its powerful enough to keep up with my 5 piece band! It paces nicely with any amp the lead guitar player brings, get out over the drums, bass and keys without even being mic'd!And the tones...the SOUND..is rich and lush! I play mostly clean, but I do use a bit of grit and some down and dirty drive...and this amp does it all. Plus it takes pedals extremely well, either in front or thru the loop. It responds to touch much like a great tube amp, and the included footswitch lets you call up a couple of different settings and sounds easily.
Features
The back lit panel is a blessing! Even on a dark stage you can see exactly what you need for instantaneous "tweaks". And I switch from Tweed, Classic, FullQ and Ch1 a lot! Most of this I can do with the footswitch. The Boost feature does exactly that BOOST!...and it has its own settings that are VERY useful. Great sounding
Ease of Use
Very easy to use...very intuitive. And lots of great tones and gain are available. No real "learning curve", but be prepared to spend some time "discovering" new tones and sounds...and it will bring new tonal possibilities to your guitar.
Quality
Great build quality. Looks good, built like a tank. Quality pots and switches. Even the power cord has a locking tab on it. And, by the way, it's AMERICAN made! Seems like it will last a LONG time! We shall see, cuz I plan on keeping it for a LONG time!
Value
It IS a little pricey, but it delivers MORE than advertised. The amp comes with the cool selectable foot pedal and a great high-quality, padded cover that has a huge pocket for cables (I have a motorcycle racing jacket made of the same material). Neither one willever wear out. AND, as stated earlier, I am going to get the 12" ext cab for it just to experience the "3D" type sounds. And Zzounds is another reason I can afford this amp...I split my payments into 4 easy installments, and I'll do the same with the ext cab.
Manufacturer Support
This is the ONLY company where I actually dealt with customer service BEFORE I bought the product. They addressed all my concerns and answered all my questions. When I called in, Chris was VERY helpful, and when I sent an email, Pat Quilter himself wrote back! And they have a 15 day No Questions Asked return policy, It does not get any better that that.
The Wow Factor
The looks on musician's faces when I show up to the gig with this little amp is worth the price of admission alone. And when I turn it on and let her rip...the amazement factor goes thru the roof! I am already responsible for other sales to musicians who came to my gig and heard my amp! And I DO NOT WORK FOR QUILTER IN ANY WAY, nor am I endorsed. I am just a huge fan that is mightily impressed with the product and I want to spread the word...especially to my peers that are, shall we say, a little more "mature" these days, and are tired of lugging around heavy amps to get the tone and volume they need, or are sacrificing tone and volume to carry a smaller amp. No sacrifices with the Quilter amp...huge sound/ small, lightweight amp! A win/win!

First let me say the service from zZounds is outstanding, ordered it on a Monday and received it the on Tuesday. The MicroPro 200-8 combo IMO is a wonderful little amp that sounds like a MUCH larger amp. Amazing base response from the 8" speaker. The design is very well thought out and executed. I have and have used some great tube amps and good ss amps over 40 + years, this amps does does it all very well and at only 19 lbs, The ads are pretty much spot on. I'v e had it for a couple of weeks and used it out it works for small and medium to larger gigs. My thanks to Quilter for this wonderful little Big sounding amp. Don't know about manufacturer support have not had to use it.

Musical Background:

Playing for 40 plus years.

"The Little Amp That Can"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

Power, Tone, Looks, Design, Bells & Whistles, Weight/Size -- A Mighty Amp in a tiny package. A bit pricey, and yet... I play all styles from Jazz to Rock, Blues to Country, on my 175, Custom Strat, Tele, etc., etc., and this amp rocks them all! I originally bought the "12 model for gigging, loved it so much that I picked the 8" model up for my couch playing. Tired of schlepping that 70lb. tube amp around? Answer: Get a Quilter. One humble suggestion: lose the 'Mini" mode setting, and replace it with an acoustic simulation mode--much more useful for gigging.

Musical Background:

40 year L.A. studio/concert guitarist/songwriter/performer. Still gigging after all these years.

Musical Style:

All styles except Kurdistan Polkas.
