I have used these with and without a subwoofer, and in both cases, they performed flawlessly. One thing to remember is how to set them up. If using these without a subwoofer, you might be inclined to run them in the "flat" setting on the back, but be careful. These speakers can blow if you run too much Bass frequencies through them. I also have the Eris 5s and I love them, but these are a bit louder and they have more low end than the E5s. They also have better dispersion of the high end. I definitely recommend these monitors for a small space and if you get a subwoofer, the Sub8 by Presonus is a great fit.

This is my second set of PreSonus monitors. The first set I'm using for a little vinyl setup and they are great. This set is replacing a set of Mackie monitors on my desk. These are stellar! I have them up on some stands and paired them with a PreSonus sub8. I set the HPF at 80 HZ on the monitors and sub. This system is FULL SOUNDING and does not disappoint. Just listening to music as out of this world. As long as you get the levels right with a SPL meter, mixing and monitoring should be an enjoyable experience. As usual, Zzounds took really good care of me and I had them at my doorstep in no time! Don't hesitate to drop the hammer on these!!!
Sound
These monitors sound amazing. Not just for the price, just in general. You can hear every little detail. I put my Boss GX100 through it and it sounds alive!
Features
The tuning features are great. The ports on the front really do help them breath and deliver a nice natural low end. I have the HPF at 80 hz so these are really handling the mid to highs as they were designed to do. I suggest getting the PreSonus sub8 to pair with them.
Ease of Use
Put your TRS cables into them and go. People complain about this product having a hissing noise. That's likely because they are using unbalanced audio connections. Studio monitors should have a nice balanced line in.
Quality
They feel like they are well made.
Value
These out preform the Yamaha HS monitors that I was considering. I have an HS8 that I use as an additional monitoring tool to build tone patches and these sound a little more articulate.
Manufacturer Support
Yes. The customer support is fantastic if you have questions. I have a PreSonus audio interface, some Eris 4.5's for my record player, the 5 xt's on my desk, the sub8 woofer and I use Studio One 5 Pro as my daw.
The Wow Factor
These are a 5/5 all day. Just remember, use XLR or TRS.

have these, jbl lsr305's, 308's, rcf 6, 8, yamaha hs8, and a pair of pioneer 5 inch monitors. These are probably some of the clearest and smoothest in the midrang area. crystal clear dispersion. hard to tell the location of the tweeter which is something you want. paired with a sub they'd probably be even more amazing. definitely looking more into presonus' higher level products.

Small but pack a punch. These have the sweetest midrange response of all my monitors and I’ve tried lots. I own Yamaha hs8’s, jbl lsr308’s. Bass rolls up quickly but it’s expected. Overall pleased with the quality of these. Def going to look into the 8 inch versions.

So i got these less than a year ago. So far the left one has not problems. The right seems to be a lemon at best. 3 months in tweeter goes out with minimal usage and NOT at high volumes. Now we are just under a year and the stupid same speaker wont power on. I checked the fuse and No Dice. The unit is dead. Please research this as this unit has these problems for a lot of people. Yes Presonus does repairs for free but if you are out west it will cost you about 40 to 50 bucks just to ship. I will be in this one speaker an extra 100 after this. Needless to say will be selling these as soon as they are repaired and getting a pair of ADAMS.

I’ve had a lot of different monitors. Currently using my Yamaha HS8’s. I use these e5’s as a reference. I actually prefer listening to the e5’s. They’re flat, have amazing soundstage, crisp highs and very flat bass response. Not overpowering bass but just enough to let you know it’s there and where to fit it in my mixes. I might purchase the e8’s and see how they do.
