Unless you are a world class turntablist you will have no problem DJing with this unit. The motor on the 500 is slightly weaker than the big brother PLX1000 but for normal mixing and scratching you will be fine. I use butter rugs and I'm not heavy handed either. So to each his/her own but i would rate these a strong 7.5 out of 10. The PLX 1000 a 9 and the 1200 of course a perfect 10. I use serato as well as REAL vinyl. Hope this helps someone

Great Value! Excellent product, I would recommend to anyone from amateur to professionals. I could not believe how solid these tables were when I opened the box. Honestly can't tell the difference between the PLX-1000's and the 500's. And this white is crazy! 10 out of 10!

First of all, the direct drive motor is very weak. It’s very laggy I was trying to do some simple scratching, and there’s no catch the record drags a bit just tapping your finger on the body of the turntable will produce a loud thumping sound through your speakers. This should not happen I may have got a faulty unit. Build quality is decent. It’s heavy but the top part I think it’s heavy plastic. So they really need to make this a little bit less resistant to being so reverberant
