Let met start off by saying the potential of the SE line of PRS guitars is pretty good for the price of the guitars. I purchased a Black Gold Burst Custom 24 from zZounds in march. I also replaced the stock tuners with SE locking tuners. I will start off with the pros for this guitar.- The neck feels good. I find a comfortable middle ground with the neck. It's roundish but not like half a baseball bat in my hand.- The guitar sits and hangs from a strap comfortably.- The weight is good.- Overall it is not a bad guitar. The Cons- The nut is absolutely atrocious. I use tens in standard tuning and they don't feel bad on this guitar, but the amount of work I did to the stock nut was ridiculous just to get the thing to stay in tune. With the kind of quality PRS puts into the looks of these, a 15 dollar nut upgrade should seem like a no brainer. The string height, even with the stock 9s, at the nut was a nightmare.- On the guitar I received, when the volume pot is maxed there is distortion. This is also an easy fix, but should I have had to fix it? I don't think I should have.- The pickups are OK. They will suffice for just about any music you want to play, but there are much better pickups. Again these things are replaceable and every ear is going to feel a little different about them.I know I am somewhat unfairly comparing the SE to the 96 standard 24 I used to own, in all reality there is no comparison between the 2 guitars, but I feel at this price, the least that could be done at the factory is a proper functioning nut and pots.

Had it for 2 days, what a joke!!!! Allready in the shop for a proper setup. Neck is twisted, needs fretwork and don't even look at it funny or it goes out of tune. I think PRS needs better quality control.

I read alot of reviews on these SE models. Played more than a few (anyone who buys one they dont know they like...lol) all I could find were raving reviews about them and a handful of ones saying things like "bad set up" and "why was it in drop D" lol. Set ups are always personal and if you dont detune and it goes onto an airplane, you get drumsticks and 6 cables from air pressure

"PRS SE Custom 24 for $800 range"

Overall: 2 out of 5 stars

Try to keep in mind, these are not American made PRS guitars. They come from Indonesia and while they may LOOK good, the review that covered them is accurate. Corners are cut to reduce costs. We've seen this in other overseas made guitars. You get what you pay for. An instrument that is only worth around $400 at best, but sells for more due the the name on the headstock. Let the Buyer beware.

"Great for the price, but plan on getting it set up"

This is a great guitar especially for the price. However, this is not playable out of the box and will need a pro set up. Their techs severely dropped the ball on this one and I emailed them about it. It was last inspected in January of 2021 according to the tag. It also came in standard D tuning for some reason. The action was stupid high. Literally a half inch off the fret board at the 12th fret. I sent pictures. Not sure what they’re going to do to make this right. But we’ll see.
