Over the past half century (yes I've been a guitarist for fifty years now) I have owned too many guitars to list here and bore you. I currently own 15...a Les Paul, a Jazzmaster, three Gretschs, two Deans, two Martins, a few Washburns, I'm probably forgetting something...the point is, I do know guitars a little. This PRS had a unique tone, really kicks through my Marshall DSL 100H single stack. You'll need to play around with your bass control a bit because the bass response can be a bit overwhelming, but that's not a criticism, it's an observation. This has become my go to guitar, it played like a dream right out of the box. It's a beauty too - I got the cherry sunburst. If you're looking to step outside that GIBSON/FENDER mold then I highly recommend you consider a PRS and you won't be sorry you did.

The Custom 24 plays like a dream when strapped on and has its own tonal character as others have noted; the newly designed pickups are some of the best at any price point, why you ask, well power, punch and tonal balance! Please follow me here, the perennial lament of many players is a weak bridge pickup in almost any make/model you can name, it is often difficult to get a stock bridge Pickup to have a balanced output that compares with the full body performance of the neck pickup; the "falling off" effect is upsetting to many; there are physical laws in this mix no doubt, not enuff time here for that! In any event, pro players began crying for hotter P'ups at the bridge since the 57 PAF days of yore; the good news is, with the PRS SE Custom 24 30th that problem is solved, gotta give Mr. Reed credit right there, other PRS models have also been very impressive in that regard, but this one even more. Some of the proof is seen in the overall pickup height adjustment, no endless tweaking to git it right, its not necessary to raise the bridge P'up to the strings to get punch and growl; this new series pickup has output that is very well tuned and matched indeed. Many more happy endings here, there's need to upgrade! No, the Custom 24 30 Limited is not an every man guitar, but real dang close, it just has so many strengths and virtues, a performance that comes at much higher price points, pro players have known this for a while, really good stuff! Nuff Said!!

This guitar is easily playable and sounds as good as my Gibson and fender guitar. The finish is flawless and the price of the guitar is worth every penny.
