I’m very impressed with the quality of the PRS SE series. I also have an SE Custom 24 and like it a lot as well, but wanted more of a Les Paul style. I put this guitar side by side with my Gibson Les Paul Standard, and asked my son if he could tell, just by looking and no playing, which one cost $2,000 plus. He really couldn’t. Now the sound is the most important thing, and I’m not super impressed with the stock pickups, but really need to play it more. I love the feel of this guitar. I haven’t had it set up yet, but I did have to adjust the trussrod when it arrived. I’m a big fan of a wide neck, which this has. Also I like the belly cutout on the back. The weight is heavy, but feels solid, and I like the shorter 24.5 inch scale and 22 frets. Tone switches don’t switch to single coil, but I rarely use that in my other guitars so it’s no big deal for me. I feel that the PRS quality control is tops, and the flame top looks just about as good as my Gibson, plus I don’t have to worry about a fragile finish like that of the Gibson nitrocellulose. I even checked out the soldering on the pots and switches, which were all very well done, and the wiring carefully arranged. Overall if you’re looking for a single cut Les Paul style guitar, you can’t go wrong with this one, especially for the price.
Musical Background:
Played around electric and acoustic for years, but seriously for this past year. I jam at home with my son.
Musical Style:
Rock and the blues are my favorites.
