Paiste 101 Series Brass Crash Cymbal

Perfect for beginners, this 101 Series crash from Paiste is also a great option for expanding any drum kit. The MS63 brass produces bright and bold tones.

I received this cymbal as part of the Paiste 101 Cymbal Pack. They ARE great looking cymbals. The Ride is great, and the Hi-Hats are well above par. The crashes though... They behave more like Rides than Crashes. So I use them as rides. Essentially having now a 14" and 16" ride to play with. Using them as Crashes, they behave and sound more like Gongs or Bells even.. depending on where you strike. A hard strike or glance even, will give you a BoOoNnNnNnG sound more so than the crash/splash you'd expect. BUT... For jazz they'd be great.. or for accents in more aggressive music styles... you can't beat the price to have more.cymbals to add to the arsenal. They are definitely built to withstand some punishment as well... This may be the reason for the "bong-ness"... They are very thick cymbals. 2.5 stars on sound, simply because I believe calling these "crashes" is a bit of a stretch. But again, if you want to add some cheaper options to the kit, that you'll use on occasion, pull the trigger.

The cymbal sound/quality is sub-par, you can only expect so much from such a cheap cymbal, but does get the job done fairly well.
