Orange Little Bass Thing Bass Amplifier Head (500 Watts)

It may be little, but that doesn't mean it's quiet! The Orange Little Bass Thing rocks with a 500-watt class D power amplifier, DI output, and parametric EQ.

This is the only class D amp I have really been interested in, I preferred A/B, and like simple easy tone. Not into downloading sounds, and crap options and variables. I've had this 2 days, and after 32 years playing this is my favorite amp I've owned. The knobs have detents so they always get to the same spot, you can't get just a touch of dial, but the adjustments are useful and easy. With an OBC112 I was able to plug right in, dial in some compression, at it sounded great. Playing a G&L SB-1, a P with more lows and hotter passive output, used the 6db pad because I was distorting with higher compression. I cut 1-2 clicks of mid with the freq at the top of the range, this dialed out a touch of the mid centric sound of the neodymium 12" (but the Lavoce doesn't have the weird hollow neo sound that made me sell a cab with an Eminence neo), added 1 click of bass, and it is perfect.I ordered the gig bag for the Pedal Baby because it fits. I can carry my bass in one hand with this head on my shoulder, the cab in the other hand, and walk into any rehearsal or gig with confidence knowing I can quickly and easily setup, have great tone, be heard, and focus on opening my mind and fingers to speak with my instrument.A second OBC112 would fill out the sound for bigger gigs, but I don't think I'll need it for a while. A 1x15" is my preference, but this combo delivers. The OBC115 is 65lbs, so if I could get a cab somewhere between these two in size and weight, loaded with a Lavoce neodymium 15", I would never look back with that bass stack. I could probably put it under the OBC112 and run it flat wish compression at 10 o' clock.Whether you have an Orange cab or not, this is a great head with smooth thickening compression, simple eq to get you where you should be, it delivers!

Musical Background:

32 years on bass. bedrooms, livingrooms, yards, clubs, dives, breweries, wineries, churches, Bakersfield Convention Center.

Pros: I like the way it sounds, and it seems to be built pretty tough. Cons: I don’t like the detent knobs. I’d like to have a little more control over the sound. Also I really don’t like that the volume knob also controls the DI output.
