This amp is very versatile! I plugged my Fender Jazz bass into this amp & was more than satisfied! Play around with the knobs on the amp to your desired specification and you'll get it. There is the blend option if you're looking for a somewhat distorted effect if you will or however you would describe it. I don't use it because I prefer more of punchy & bright tone when I play. Needless to say it's an added option if you wanna tinker with it. It's a great looking amp if you like purple tolex! A built in tuner which I absolutely love! I have a Korg GT-3 tuner that I use regularly for tuning my bass. Out of curiosity I first tuned my bass on the Korg tuner & immediately plugged into the Orange built in tuner to see if they gave the same reading & they did spot on identical. You get a lot of quality out of this amp without breaking the bank! I'm 100 percent satisfied with this 50 watt Orange!

Okay - not going to lie... The purple edition pushed me over the edge. Now - for the details. The purple tolex is drop dead sexy, of course. The sound profile has that elusive "warmth" that is often lacking in solid state combos. It just came in, so I'm still experimenting with settings - but I'm totally infatuated with how it sounds. It should be fantastic as a practice amp, for recording & the like. Now - would one gig with it? That depends... A small, relatively quiet venue? I think it would sit in the mix just fine. But are you competing with a drummer doing his best Bonzo impression? A guitarist with a "Matt Pike For President" sticker on his 100W head & full-stack? Naw bro - this is a 50W SS bass amp with 1 12" driver. But for darn near everything else - I'm loving this amp. You can crank it, or you can dial in fuzzed out gain at lower dB levels to DOOM without your neighbor calling the cops. It's versatile AF - oh, and did I mention it's Purple? It's got GLENN FRICKING HUGHES name right on the amp man. FYI - the Blend control is rad.
