"Oh, BABY! SOOOOOOOO JUICY!!!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I will never sell it. Thieves... I can't bear the thought...
Sound
Ya know how it's hard to go back to playing an rhodes piano sound on a keyboard after you've just played a real rhodes?...wurly?... B3?... Clav?... If you do, and you're tired of having to sacrifice sound for portability, get this keyboard. If I could describe the tone of the instrument I would use one word: Authentic. Period.
Features
It's got everything I need. Leslie sounds incredible! Effects are cool too, but the Wah could screech more. Not bad for 1's and 0's though!
Ease of Use
The panel is very non-intimidating and straight-forward. I was up and running in no time at all. Talk about instant gratification! {=
Quality
I've had mine for 4-years. Very rugged design. In that time I've replaced 2 plastic keys (my fault) and I've had to clean the contacts on the key sensors under the keys yearly. (tools needed: phillips screwdriver, rubbing alcohol, q-tips, and a paper clip to remove and re-secure the silicon tabs that hold the silicone actuators on the sensor board.) This is just standard maintainance though. Otherwise, no problems.
Value
It's worth every penny.
Manufacturer Support
Yep, I had the key sensors cleaned under warranty once. Very easy to deal with. Also, the people at Armadillo who sent me the replacement plastic keys were very easy to deal with too.
The Wow Factor
It's red, man! Yeah, the draw bar led's are wicked cool too! Wood end-caps and steel chassis, very vintage.

Nord Electro 73-Key Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
If your looking for a rig that will provide all the old school funky sounds such as clav, fender rhodes, and a great hammond b3, then this is for you...now it took me sometime to save up for it, but it paying off...I really can't see myself playing without it...Great look to board as well!!!
Features
I would've given a 10 here but I really don't like the ring effect on board, although the hammond drawbars are pretty darn close, clav effects are great, overdrive is so-so,(only on fender pianos does it sound incredible)
Ease of Use
once again hammond drawbars and very easy to use...chorus and percussion right on...
Quality
for the color i give it a 10 i shines in the spotlight of a show..plus I never get sick of answering "What is that it sounds friggin incredible !" also its metal not plastic, and the wood cover are cool too..
Value
can live without it...if was broken or stolen would def get new one...or maybe even the new stage nord...I have the electro 2 76keys
Manufacturer Support
can't really give nord a perfect score, never really needed assistance over the phone as of yet...but i did go online and downloaded some new acoustic pianos which still are not that good but is a very fluid system to use..

"Baby keyboard with a grown-up voice"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I guess I'm a bit of a gear head... I was looking for the smallest, best sounding kb I could find. I'm sure something will eventually come along to knock this baby off it's perch.
Sound
B3 is to die for... leslie & overdrive effects bring it to life. Rhodes, Wurly, and Clav are perfect, especially with effects section. Piano is thin... but I have a piano kb.
Features
Does not include pedals... get a sustain and expression pedal. Could use a built-in reverb, too. On the other hand, with the excellent on-board effects it replaces a bunch of other junk & cords.
Quality
Seems to be built like a tank... which is amazing for a keyboard this small (I have the 61) and light (I can take it on my scooter & put it on the stand with one hand).
Value
It is pricey... but ripping an nasty Deep Purple style organ solo from a kb this small... priceless.
Manufacturer Support
No experience.
The Wow Factor
I'd just have to get another one if this one got stolen... maybe after I checked out the Nord Stage (when it comes out).

"Really cool and funky."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This is just a fantastic jam keyboard, and if you look at what it does and compare it to size and weight, it's really rather impressive.
Sound
The organ is pretty killer, rhodes dead on, wurly dead on, clav is good, I dont use the Electric grand much, and the Acoustic piano has very good potential if used properly. The piano really needs good reverb on it to sound good. Some people complain about no built in reverb, but you can get a much better sound from a high quality outboard reverb unit in most cases.
Features
As far as features, this board has just what you need and nothing you don't.
Ease of Use
This board is stupid simple to use. All the main features are self explanatory, some configuration settings required the manual, but were not difficult.
Quality
This thing is pretty solid. Wood endcaps are a nice touch.
Value
Pricey, but it gets the job done well.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to deal with them.
The Wow Factor
If it was stolen, I would get another.

Nord Electro 73-Key Customer Review

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
great sound. very funky!!! the acoustic piano sound is to be ignored, though....
Features
for this money i would expect a bigger display. Also, after seeing the new "nord stage 88" i asked myself: would it kill clavia to include a reverb and delay effects, and a nice morphing wheel to the clavia for the same money? hell, i'm willing to pay a bit more for these effects.
Quality
looks great, and feels solid. good mid-whighted keys.
Value
i think that for this money i should have got more features. but as for the sound - i feel i got a good deal
Manufacturer Support
didn't need one

"Good Sound - POOR Quality and Service"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Product is not reliable and service is poor. I would not recommend unless you can live with this. I would replace with a more reliable unit (won't buy again).
Sound
The Hammond B3 sounds are great when working. The Wurlitzer sound is also quite good. The piano is poor, but not the reason I purchased the Nord.
Features
OK for the most part. The drawbar controls are pretty intuitive. The knob controls a little less so because when using a preset the knob position has no relation to the seting until you start to turn the knob. This can make it a little bit difficult to fine tune sounds. Lacks midi passthru and therefore requires separate midi connections (cannot be used in a midi loop).
Ease of Use
The organ interface is very intuitive.
Quality
My keyboard stopped working after 2-3 months of use. While I was playing, the keyboard started smoking (and by this I mean that burnt electrical smell that is emitted by malfunctioning electronics). This was followed by a "pop" and the start of my still unfinished journey to get the unit repaired under warranty.
Value
I expected much better quality and service for something that costs this much.
Manufacturer Support
The Clavia company is not easy to deal with in the US, and does not take much responsibility for poor service. I sent my unit to a factory authorized repair center and the keyboard has not been fixed in almost 6 weeks. The Triple-S repair center in NJ is particulary bad - customer service almost never answers the phone and they never return calls when you leave a message.

"Nord Electro 2 73. Love it. But..."

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I researched different keyboards before I bought this one and loved the B3 sounds. I don't plan on searching for a replacement unless the repairs turn into a headache.
Sound
I bought it primarily for the organ sounds. Has the most realistic B3 sounds I've heard in a lightweight keyboard. I like the electronic draw bars and the presets are easy to use. This makes live performance a snap to change sounds. The piano sounds are weak but I use a Yamaha for those anyway. After 6 months the system jammed up on me and will not boot up. Needs to go to service and reading some of these reviews is making me nervous.
Features
No accessories were included. For $1500. they could have thrown in the sustain pedal or leslie foot controler.
Ease of Use
Easy enough to use. They could have included a pedal to control the leslie feature. Hitting the button by hand to increase/decrease rotor speed while playing with both hands is difficult. Manual was definitely written by someone with English as their second language.
Quality
Keyboard is beautiful and sounds great. After six months the system has jammed and I'm faced with dealing with service. Don't know yet how that's going to work out.
Value
We'll see. Price was fine when I purchased it but don't know if I'm going to start having problems with it. That will change my opinion of value.
Manufacturer Support
E-mailed Nord USA when my system jammed and was sent two authorized service centers in NJ. One of which had a negative review by another Nord owner. Have not brought it in yet.
The Wow Factor
Love the sounds, ease of use and weight. Don't know yet if my repair is going to be a nightmare.

"worked good for six months"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
I love the sound, I have never added new sounds as the factory presets sounded fine to me.
Features
could be easier to navigate
Ease of Use
not bad I guess
Quality
I bought mine in August from my local music stiore and played it about once a day for 15 minutes average, and it has electronicly malfunctioned with organ and piano lights on simultaneously. only does b3 now and distorted, took it back to music store they didnt know what to do, I tried emailing sweden jan 2nd and on the 5th we still have no answer probably the holidays, wholesaler has went out of buisness, music store is trying to figure out who to call, Nord website has no information.
Value
this thing has bad warranty when it goes down so it should be about $5500 not $1500
Manufacturer Support
no published service center number, no address of service center displayed on website, kind of a dont call us we'll call you, I just bought a $200 flight case because I'm getting the feeling this thing will be on the road for a long time (without me)
The Wow Factor
It had great appeal till it broke and I'm told we dont know where the warranty station is and nobody is answering the phone

"Killer Red Beast!!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I've finally found a keyboard worthy of being classified as an "instrument".
Sound
Lots of people knock the acoustic piano sounds, but to my ears it is the least 'digital' sounding piano sound out there. The action takes a little getting used to, and to that end maybe some players don't access the full range of the piano sample....completely awesome within a band context.
Features
Everything a gigging player needs is one push away, once you start using the preset feature.
Quality
Some minor problems with sticky buttons on my new one, but no service tech required.
Value
Expensive, and multitimbral would be nice, but hey, you get what you pay for.
Manufacturer Support
I've e-mailed Sweden and received quick response.....haven't really needed any support, though.
The Wow Factor
Couldn't be without it.....will sell my Roland 88 note weighted piano before I would live without my red beast.

"It works for me!!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
This keyboard does everything I need for a rock/blues gig.
Sound
Organ and Leslie are right on the money. Acoustic pianos are a bit weak (the electric piano is far better than the acoustic one - but Clavia notes this...better stuff is coming.) My only real complaint is the key click is a little bit off, and the overdrive doesn't sound quite right with the organ - it "heads off in the wrong direction".
Features
Could use some onboard reverb
Value
For this price the above noted flaws shouldn't be there.
