I've used mostly $150 to $300 closed back cans for tracking and monitoring or just listening for enjoyment. I've had open backed cans before, but wasn't impressed enough to use them much. I sold the last pair to a video production friend. These are without a doubt, the best headphones I've owned. I use Presonus Septre S8 monitors with the T10 sub in my studio. When I switch between the NDH 30s and the my monitors, the spectral balance is nearly exactly the same, less the extended low end that the sub produces. With the sub bypassed, the NDH 30s are a bit more full in the low end than the S8s alone. This may be more of a statement about my room and the way my monitors are adjusted, but it's uncanny how close these cans are to what I'm used to from my monitors. At first they seemed a little lacking in the top end, but I think I was expecting them to be somewhat hyped, like so many headphones. I find myself wanting to listen to them just for the intimacy headphones give. If you have a small head, you might find these a bit big, but I like that they give my ears plenty of room. The construction seems to be bomber with little plastic.P.S. It's BS that I have to give star ratings that simply don't apply. I have no idea what the support is like. I have a couple Neumann mics and have never needed manufacturer support, so how am I supposed to rate it? Ease of use, what the eff, they're headphones, you plug them in and put them on your head. Wow factor - this is so subjective to be useless. Value is based on how much money you make or have in your bank account. I'm giving these categories five stars only because I have to give them star ratings to do a review and don't what else I should do. I protest having to rate each of these categories.

I've loved my KH-120 monitors for over a decade now, so I expected the same level of excellence from the NDH 30's. I was not disappointed! Quite worthy of the Neumann name and legacy, these headphones sound amazing, revealing everything I missed in my mixes and masters, so I can deliver a perfect client to my clients every time. If music is your business, I highly recommend these headphones

This headphone is excellent its balanced, detailed without being bright bass response is excellent with perfect weight. Imaging is razor sharp and expansive. I have a variety of the Sennheiser line and the NDH 30 is my favorite. They are really comfortable with perfect weight for prolonged listening sessions. You would have to spend a lot more money to beat these at this price. Money well spent I'm impressed. Highly recommended.

Especially after reading all the rave reviews online! When I first put them on I was impressed with the overall quality of sound and studio monitor type fidelity that these give out of the box. They are also built extremely well, look fantastic, and are super comfortable! However the praise stops there. After comparing them to other similarly priced headphones by beyerdynamic and hifiman, the high end on these NDH 30's now sounds veiled by comparison. While they are useful for mixing (I did a few mixes on these and they do force you to make decisions that result in a very clean sounding mix) for general music listening and overall daily driven usage I found myself preferring my Hifiman Edition XS much more, which has a much more clear top end as well as better sub bass extension while still maintaining accurate midrange which is what I've always been looking for in a headphone. Another nitpick is while there are many aftermarket pads for beyers and hifimans that can be used to really dial in your own personal sound, as far as I know there is NOTHING on the market for these, so if you don't like how they sound out of the box there's nothing you can do about it. That being said, the ear pads are super comfortable, and being so light, these are possibly the most comfortable over the ear headphones that I've ever worn. Overall a very high quality headphone that has it's own unique sound but I wish that it had a little more sparkle on the top end.
