I have owned the King Bee and now use the Worker Bee for spoken word. It's bigger brother has some weird spikes and bumps in its frequency graph...but the Worker Bee is relatively flat, giving you the advantage of EQ-ing it to your liking. Yes, the Worker Bee is great on mixing instruments, but it EXCELS in spoken word (narration, podcasting, audio books, etc.), reproducing your voice the way it is, with little or no coloration (and it's not sibilant, like the Rode NT1). Don't let the "toy" appearance and low price fool you -- this is an EXCEPTIONAL microphone and is, for now, my favorite of all the condensers I've owned.

What an outstanding mic! I once owned the King Bee and was not really impressed with it...but the WORKER BEE is wonderful (especially on vocals). Looking at the frequency graph, I was expecting a less-than-full-bodied sound -- but, boy, was I surprised! This thing sounds great and I highly recommend it!!!

Musician for longer than I like to admit, plus I'm in audio production.
