I'm actually selling it. I have the extreme sound from my Boogie, and just need a simple blues and AC/DC sound. Thinking of going with a Radial Tonebone Classic or maybe a Tech21 Sansamp Tri-O.D.
Sound
Very loud pedal. Not excessively noisy, but difficult to control at bedroom levels. I was trying to achieve a Tubescreamer sound on the first channel and a Marshall stack on the other. I got close, but both sounds seemed a bit compressed and quacky. I am playing a Fender 50's Reissue with Van Zandt pickups through a Mesa Boogie DC-2 combo. The Boogie may have been over coloring my sound...
Features
This is the exact setup I wanted. Two channels with completely separate eq's. Why don't more effects companies think like this?
Quality
Built like a fricken' tank! One of the little buttons broke off prior to me picking it up used, but I simply replaced it with the cap of a ballpoint pen. Works like a charm now!
Value
Had to search around to get the price down around $100, but found a good deal on ebay.
Manufacturer Support
Never had to mess with them, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt since they build these things so solid.
The Wow Factor
Definitely has a VooDoo aura about it.

"MXR come up with bum deal"
This makes a rich, warm guitar tone sound cold, just not worth the money if you've got a good guitar sound which you want to enhance
Sound
Very buzzy scooped metal sound but feedback just kills sound. Not nice! Does not enhance an organic sound as achieved by my 70's Marshall valve amp.
Features
I hate distortion pedals with EQ's, you have an EQ on your amp for a reason! Having said that, changing the EQ does radically change the sound. Doesn't improve it though.
Quality
As with all MXR pedals, it's as solid as a rock, can't fault that.
Value
Costs a fortune and is not worth it. MXR have done some great stuff but this just isn't for me.
Manufacturer Support
Didn't keep it long enough to find out
The Wow Factor
It's black and could do annoying crowd members some damage if you bashed them over the head with it but I really dislike it.

"*THE ONLY REVIEW YOU NEED TO READ IF YOUR A RANDY RHOADS FAN*"
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Randy Rhoads used MXR 104 distortion --- and now MXR has made their new distortion pedal---Need I say more? But, never believe nothin from nobody, so try it out at your local music shop before you order online (for cheaper!) like I did. The only reason the pedal doesn't get a 10, is because nothins perfect: 9 is usually as good as it gets.
Sound
This is the only review you need to read. The 1st distortion is best for leads. Not as good as a Zoom Tri Metal, but its a very good quality distortion sound. The 2nd distortion is good for really chunky rythm and if you have a 7 string warlock--- this distortion will really take advantage of such a low register guitar--- anotherwords the 2nd distortion is one of the heaviest and best quality distortions you can buy. (especially if you like SLOW & HEAVY riffs)
Features
Came with its own adapter--- I love MXR pedals! The EQ is solid, but I would recommend buying the MXR 10 band EQ to fine tune this distortion (or if you have another 10+ band EQ, etc)
Quality
Just like everyone else said on here. Its VERY HIGH QUALITY; bullet proof construction. (well not really, but you know what i mean)
Value
You get what you pay for. This is a very high quality pedal. And it ain't cheap either!
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to use them but I bet they're great
The Wow Factor
I just about bought this pedal on impulse because IT IS MXR's new Distortion Pedal! Its badass!!!

Try one and take the time to learn how to use it and you can't be disappointed.
Sound
Great sound out of this pedal. I play with 4 wound strings tuned to drop A. with a 60 gauge low string and a 15 gauge high it was hard to find something that didnt mud over and sound sloppy. Right now Im running it though an old Hughes and Kettner Attax series amp and it took a long time before I a distortion pedal I liked more than my standard built in distortion. This one covers both of my styles of playing. Any thing from low end coal chamber style palm muting on the second channel to lead style pantera-ish style on the first channel. Extreme difference in the sound of each channel and the focus buttons give even more of an adaptable sound to any style.
Features
The only complaint that I have for this pedal is that it takes some getting used to and for best results it needs to be at a medium to high volume setting. At low volumes you can't really hear how good the double shot really works.IT IS NOT A PEDAL YOU CAN RUN THE GAIN TO THE TOP AND EXPECT IT TO WORK PROPERLY. I made that mistake cause thats how I had my amp set up originally. After taking a couple days of adjusting I got used to it and this pedal is freaking amazing.
Quality
Well built and seems like it will stand up for a long time.
Value
1 of my favorite pedals and sounds great in combo with my Chorus Ensamble pedal.
Manufacturer Support
Actually I don't really know cause I haven't had to use it.
The Wow Factor
I love it and I won't use another distortion. After tring the highly recommended Metal Zone and some other pedals I was about to give up on distortion pedals. Then I was introduced to the double shot.
